This area offers a peaceful setting, centred around the historic sanctuary. The village itself is small and rural, with the main amenities and guesthouses clustered around the sanctuary and along the main road that passes through As Ermidas. You'll find local eateries serving traditional Galician food within a short stroll.

Couples often appreciate this area for its tranquil environment and opportunities for quiet walks. The natural beauty of the surrounding mountainous landscape provides a relaxing backdrop for a short break, and the local guesthouses often offer a welcoming, personal touch.

For solo travellers seeking a reflective and calm experience, staying near the sanctuary offers convenience for visiting the site and connecting with the local way of life.
When is the best time to go to As Ermidas?
The best time to go to As Ermidas is during the shoulder seasons of May, June, and September, or in early October, when the weather is pleasant and the main tourist crowds have thinned.

These months offer warm, sunny days superb for enjoying the outdoors without the intense heat and larger visitor numbers of July and August. You'll find it easier to explore the Sanctuary of Our Lady of As Ermidas and the surrounding natural parks, and you'll likely have a more peaceful experience along the river beaches.

For those looking to experience local festivities, the annual pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of As Ermidas takes place in September.
