"On previous trips to Italy we never figured out the whole beach thing. The public beaches we went to were frankly disappointing. This time we paid to stay in a beach front hotel and got our own umbrella. The hitch was, this is a water front hotel without a sandy beach. It had water access via a pier and the swimming was actually very nice. The umbrellas were on a nice little lawn. We just didn’t get to rub our toes in the sand. The view was wonderful. The breakfast was great. We sipped fancy cocktails while in our swimsuits. Life was good."
