CASA DA ESPERANCINHA (ESPERANCINHA'S HOUSE) is a portuguese traditional cottage refurbished in May 2013, with the objective of ensuring you a friendly, relaxing and cosy holiday in an healthy environment. It is a perfect place for hiking and enjoying Nature. The nearest town is S. Brás de Alportel, only 1.5 miles away from the house. There you find traditional commerce such as pottery, food and beverages, and also a wide choice of restaurants and bars. The wonderful beaches of the Eastern Algarve are only 30 minutes away by car. Guests have the exclusive use of a private pool, a beautiful garden and a barbecue. A nice restaurant is only 3 minutes walking distance.
This is rural Portugal at its best.

Traditional property and furnishings, sharing drive/parking with adjoining residential property. Self contained with all amenities. Comfortable bed, excellent shower, clean pool. Needs additional plug sockets in kitchen to save re plugging appliances and perhaps at this price a welcome pack ...bread/wine/cheese etc. ? Residential neighbours (Maria) helpful and friendly with bonus of Minnie the dog. Good restaurant 3 minutes walk up the road. Supermarkets within 5 minutes drive. No local bars.

Nice original semi detached property in a good location. Although I had difficulty finding the property, one phone call to the owners farther soon put me right. Perfect for my wife and myself for a relaxing week. Our only wish was that we could have done with a umbrella around the pool apart from that, perfect.

The accommodation was adequate. Bed was amazing and so was shower !! The things that were lacking were any information on using micro oven, heating in the bedroom as November nights a bit chilly and cleaning equipment etc . Having said that Maria was brilliant even though no English was spoken !!! My limited Portuguese got us through and Mimi was a welcome guest every morning !! Thanks for a lovely week on a much needed holiday.

We loved this property a very quaint Algarve cottage well equipped, the bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in on holiday. The pool was very clean and inviting, plus we haven’t been to this part of the Algarve before but we would certainly love to come back.

A quiet getaway
A quiet rural location where you can relax. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable with a dip in the pool rewarding after a day in the sun. Two good local, walking distance, restaurants which we visited on the majority of the nights. Half an hour to great beaches & not too crowded just out of season. Recommended.

Cottage Near SB de Alportel
The directions to the property were inadequate as the post code reference on the VRBO site was inaccurate so it took us an hour or so and a phone call to the owner to find the place. The property clearly had not been occupied for some time before our arrival and so it smelled a little musty! The tv and wifi units were not plugged in but we managed to connect after another phone call to the owner. Having said all that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would without doubt return to it again. The location was super providing you have a car and we enjoyed the local area and the charming town of Sao Bras. The pool and garden area are delightful and Maria was always around with a smile and charm. Overall we loved it and will be recommending it to friends who don’t want an Algarve beach location!

Our second visit and we love the place but it may not appeal to everyone. There is no night life just wonderful peace and quiet. Need transport as supermarket quite is away unless your superfit. As our visit was autumn evenings can be quite cool, we lit the lovely log fire but there were no fireplace tools. We still think the number of Jose and Maria's property (518) at the front would be helpful to new comers. Although we could not converse in their language Jose and Maria are lovely helpful people. We loved our stay.

A little hidden gem
This lovely house had everything we needed and the location was perfect. The garden was well laid out to provide shade and sunny areas. Jose and Maria who looked after the house were very helpful and their little dog Mimi was very entertaining.

We've just arrived back from our stay at this lovely Casa. As others have mentioned, the pictures don't show the true size, it's actually bigger than it looks in them. We've been to quite a few properties over the years and many of them have been through Homeaway (owners direct) I have to say that this is one of the best equipped places we've had the pleasure of staying in, it has everything you need for a holiday to relax and unwind. From the well-equipped kitchen, to the pool, the outside sitting area and lovely lounge with air-con should you feel you need it. We used the Casa as a base to explore this area of the Algarve, it's very convenient for easy access to good roads, we went across to Sagres, which was only an hour and half away - so right over to the Western Algarve very easily. But if you wanted to stay local the town of Saos has a good collection of bars and restaurants and beautiful countryside and beaches are very little distance, but you don't even have to go that far. The two restaurants within walking distance of the Casa were excellent, good value and lovely food. So you could very comfortably just stay at the Casa and ditch the car if you wanted and have everything you need. We received a friendly and warm welcome from Maria and Jose who look after it and showed us where everything was. We also met Patricia who stopped by and she was very friendly and the email communication with her was very easy too. A special mention for Mimi what a delightful dog who belongs to Maria and Jose and helped make this a wonderful break in a lovely corner of Portugal. We don't normally go back to previous places we've stayed at, but we would come back here without hesitation Thank you Patricia

A week in the country
The villa is bigger than the pictures suggest. Also the pool seems larger. The location is pleasant though being behind another property makes it difficult to find as well as inconvenient to put the car in and out of the drive. Whilst we were staying there was a lot of construction work on adjacent land so rather noisy. The garden has become rather over grown compared to the sales pictures. The villa was spotless and the bathroom is big with good amenities. The nearby restaurant serves good value food but down in SB Alportel there is a wider range of good restaurants, coffee and pizza places around the main square. The Intermarche supermarket has everything needed and is only 4 minutes in the car. Overall, we had a pleasant week in the sun and think the villa is good value.

A lovely countryside cottage with your own pool. Basically a wonderful peaceful break except when the local dog community started their chorus. Not too much of a distraction. Difficult to find as cottage situated behind Jose and Maria's premises, who look after premises. Look out for number 518A. Will definitely go back.

Lovely cottage in quiet area
We loved our stay here and had the most amazing weather for February enjoying some walks and flowers we had never seen. The cottage is perfect for a couple and was equipped with everything we needed but it would have been nice to have a log fire on the cold evenings to make it more cosy. Maria and Jose were very friendly and helpful and we loved their dog mini and she loved us! Thanks again :)

Idyllic cottage
The cottage exceeded our expectations. It's more spacious than it appears in the pictures and was spotlessly clean. The outside area with pool and eating/bbq area is beautifully landscaped and very well cared for. It really is an idyllic setting. The food at nearby Biera Serra is wonderful and great value. Huge thanks to Maria and Jose who were so lovely and helpful and to Patricia for super speedy communication.

A great place for a couple looking to get away from it all
Spacious, very comfortable and well equipped cottage for two people or perhaps a young couple with a baby. Lots of space to enjoy the sun and often a breeze to take the edge off the hottest parts of the day. The pool is small but great to cool off in rather than swim off the local food and drink which is good quality, interesting and very reasonable. The nearest restaurant is a 5 minute stroll away with a really good atmosphere for locals and visitors alike. Local supermarket within 5 minutes drive or 15 mins walk (but it is uphill in the heat on the way back!). Other than that a car is necessary to get about but this is largely very peaceful and quiet location. Owner, Patricia, could not have been more helpful and the couple next door who look after the the property were both extremely helpful and respectful of our privacy. Nice touches like the provision of pool towels and a hair dryer are not something we have always experienced elsewhere but does save on packing. There are plenty of places within 30 minutes drive and the newly redesigned town square in Sao Bras is attractive and well provided with bars and restaurants. Don't miss the local Museum either!

stayed for a week in july, villa very comfortable and well equipped. good size shower, generous living space only one bedroom but big enough to accommodate more than 2 people. fantastic pool, outside garden not overlooked at all, mature trees provide shade to at least one area at a time as the sun moves round. great views across the valley. plenty of restaurants to choose from, 200yds away is Bierra Serra which was very good, closed on Thursday though. further away is Horta which was marginally better. we'd love to go back.
