Love this place it is our home away from home! My only complaint is that there is lots of construction going on around the hotel which make it a little difficult getting in and out of transportation.

Shower leaks, toilet backup, power cuts, No hot or cold water at times. Extremely spotty WiFi. You’re Expedia booking will be questioned even if you already paid in full. One great thing about this place the rooftop bar/ lounge has an amazing view of the city and the food is tasty. And they offer airport drop-off. The hotel holds ID because of mini bar and there is a loud noise at night from the bar at the top. They should plan to put a credit card hold as an alternative to those who don’t wish their ID locked in.

Great hotel with friendly staff
I had a wonderful stay at Monarch Hotel. The room was comfortable and the staff very pleasant and helpful. This made the stay even more enjoyable. The hotel has several restaurants. I liked the 360 restaurant that has a great view and is always lively in the evenings. I enjoyed the diner and drinks there on several occasions.

I was not able to experience the hotel due to lack of visa. I paid for Ethiopia eVisa to process in 24 hours. 5 days later i still have no visa. So I never made it into the country.

The hotel is good value for the money. The rooms are spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable. A church and mosque are nearby so expect early morning prayers from around 4 am. That and the dogs barking mean that ear plugs are advisable. The restaurant on the rooftop is popular with locals and the food is pretty good. I liked that the park was within walking distance. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.

Only 1 emergency exit
There are emergency exists that don't lead to an exit. When you leave the room they indicate right or left, those leading right take you nowhere. This leaves the hotel with only one way out (the main staircase). Unfortunately, I will not be able to stay there again due to security concerns.

Pathetic service, pathetic staff, pathetic attitude. Employees at desk have zero clue, are inexperienced. At their restaurant, people are just in hurry to complete their shift and go home. Customer Experience term is non-existant in their overall staff dictionary. Must refrain from such properties so they do not survive to ruin the industry.

Monarch hotel is located at Churchill road at the center of Addis Ababa. The room is clean and the overall service is excellent. They have a lounge called 360 at the top of the hotel which has a nice view of Addis. The service by Mesert Tadelo at 360 lounge is excellent .

Free airport shuttle, cool bar on roof, and front desk staff were the best part. They are so nice! Full of smiles and friendliness. Be aware the property is in piazza parkview not address listed on Expedia which is in Bole (old address)

Excellent staff & nice rooftop bar were the highlights. I think it would be helpful to mention the hotel construction is not fully completed - only one power outlet was functional in the room, the bath drain didn’t work properly and you’ll be standing in pool of water after 30 secs, toilet seat were not attached, no iron or board. And I suggest not to use the soap, very strong smell that follows you around for hours. Again, very helpful staff the whole time.

There was no hotel with this name on the given address. Its a fraud by Expedia. Even i called Expedia’s customer care couple of times and every time it gets disconnected. I don’t recommend anyone to use Expedia for any kind of bookings. #Worst service ever #fraud

This hotel is in a very crowded and noisy area, there are a lot of night clubs around this hotel and the hotel also has a bar area which stays up late.....may be not recommended for a person who needs a quite time

Good hotel. Terrible kitchen.
Checked in after a late flight. Asked the girl at the front desk if anywhere was open for food and she said that room service was 24 hours. Called room service and the person asked me why I was calling him in the middle of the night. Then I had the pizza and had the worst food poisoning of my life. Breakfast was ok though. For no apparent reason, they filled the pool half way every day I was there. The room was clean and the staff was mostly great. The security staff was particularly alert.

Very friendly hotel and great staff. My stay was only hindered by the noisy music in the bar area which meant that I had to use ear plugs to get to sleep
