Great place to stay. Easy access to many PA adventures from this location. Very clean and nice. Quite a few dishes to use in kitchen. The village is amazing. A little slice of old country in the middle of the city!! Only downfall was there wasn’t an ample amount of paper products and we had to go out to purchase them for use during our stay. But other than that amazing place. Would stay again!
Was a wonderful place to stay and also available so close the our family. It was clean and so quiet, we were able to enjoy the restaurant and local shops at our leisure. So close to many larger cities to explore. Will seek to stay here again. Thank you
It was the perfect meeting spot for old friends who live far apart, and needed a place to simply enjoy each other’s company. It was the perfect amount of space to be together and have some personal space. Having beautiful areas to sit, walk, and shop and live music, right outside your door was the icing on the cake!
Visited area to shop antique and thrift stores. Loved the atmosphere in this quaint "village" right out of Europe. We had dinner at the Village Haus, which was only a 150 ft walk! We felt right at home in the townhome which offers everything you need. Will definitely return!
Great place! Don’t mind the many creaks; she just has a lot to say! Lots of steps too so just be aware if that’s not your thing. We had a great time and it was perfect for us. Super clean and conveniently located to all the places we wanted to visit (Shady Maple, Lancaster, Reading, Strasberg Railroad).
We had a family wedding at the nearby iron spire facility. This was a great location for our family. 3 large bedrooms and a well stocked kitchen. The village has some cute stores and restaurants.
You will hear a bit of noise from the shop downstairs during normal business hours. Also there is live music outside on weekend but ones a done by 10:00. Would stay again if in the area .
We needed a place to fit our family of 6 for a wrestling tournament in downtown Reading. We were about 18 minutes away on an easy drive. The place was perfect for our family and had everything. With half days of wrestling this gave us a great place to unwind and spread out at costs similar to the hotels closer to town. The village was very cool to walk around and extremely safe. If we find ourselves needing a place to stay in this area, we will be back!
This neighborhood is so adorable ! Walking around outside made you deal like you were in another country. From the most adorable houses to the extremely well manicured lawns, courtyards, shops etc, the German restaurant had live music outside Friday night that you could hang out by the fountain or enjoy from your apartment. What a hidden gem !
Enjoyed the stay and amenities, we had a rainy and windy weekend which led the Handle Haus sign to bang against the front of the building all night. Couldn’t get the fireplace to light. Other than those setbacks, it was great.
Stoudtburg Village is just about the cutest place that we have stayed. It is a quiet village with a bonus of shops around the village, and across the road that we walked to. The house itself was perfect for our needs and had everything that we needed in the kitchen. We have stayed at other houses within VRBO and others and have had to go out to buy some of the items that we needed, we didn't have to do that here. My only drawback was that the upstairs bathroom needed some updates, but was still usable without a problem for our long weekend. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.
Quaint village. Very much a Bavarian Village. The Octoberfest was outstanding. Many food and drink options. Great entertainment. I hope they continue this event and add others as well.
The house overall was very spacious. I do feel the living room furniture needs updating. Plenty of room in the whole house. Great for multiple people. Would be nice to add some outside chairs and benches to sit in along the front in the village square. Overall, I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice quiet place to enjoy family and friend time. I will consider this exact home in the future.
It was wonderful to be able to walk to the wedding venue. The size of the property is great. Communication was very good with host. Nice to have the pub/German beer place right across the square. Parking was super easy.
We think the decor could definitely use a refresh. Some footrests were ripped and paint needed touching up. Perhaps a refresh on the linens would be a good idea too.
Would also be a good idea to have signs on the downstairs doors as it does get a bit confusing. The host listed this on notes but signs would be helpful. Not a big deal though.

En Gudi un Friedlichi Zeit! (A good and peaceful time!)
I had an excellent time at the Handel Haus. A very peaceful little place that overlooks the village square, giving the best view in the whole village--there's also a neat little balcony you can stand from to take it all in! And if you want to get a bite to eat, you are only seconds away from The Village Haus which is only right across the square. I spent most of my lunches and dinners there and is quite affordable.
Nighttime is especially peaceful. The whole square is lit up with lights hanging across from the other houses as well as the old town lamps that are on the frontside of each house. The village is perfectly safe all times of the day and inhabited by very kind people!
If you enjoy the simple village-life experience, you'll have a great time here!
The inside of the house is rather dated and the floors are easy to creak, but charming and warm nonetheless! All sheets, blankets, and towels are perfectly clean, but I noticed that it gets really dusty under the beds. Also, do keep in mind that the last time I was there, the iron was broken; so do be sure to bring your own just in case it hasn't been replaced yet.
I would certainly come back!
The property and the area around it looked surreal. I felt like I was in a storybook or traveled back in time. The location gave us convenient access to Lancaster, various farmer’s markets, antique stores, and thrift stores. There are plenty of pamphlets provided to help you plan a trip if you haven’t beforehand.
Also, make sure you receive a second e-mail (not from VRBO, but from the host) that will help you check-in a couple of days before. I didn’t receive anything and thought I would get it right at my check in time, which I found out was not the case. I don’t blame the host since this was a technical error and not intentional. Just message the host if you don’t get one to prevent checking in delays.
Pros about the property:
• Plenty of appliances and supplies provided.
• Spacious home in a safe neighborhood.
• Beautifully decorated.
• Nice kitchen that’s well ventilated.
• Beautiful view of the surrounding area.
• Plenty of beds. I went with my elderly parents and aunts, and the set up was perfect where we each had our own beds.
• Pamphlets of attractions and nearby restaurants provided.
• Host was easy to reach and communicate with when needed.
• Amazing bathroom in the master bedroom.
Cons about the property:
• Plumbing issues with the upstairs shower. It wasn’t frequent, but there were times it just would stop draining the water properly for a few minutes. It always ended up resolving itself so we didn’t have too much of an issue.
Absolutely beautiful home and great placement for our wedding at the IronSpire Complex. Had some problems with the fireplace and the response was a little short which didn't sit right with us. Otherwise a great home and location.
