Find hotels in Acos from CA $22

The best area to stay in Acos is within the main town itself, as it offers the most convenient access to local amenities and the stunning natural surroundings.

The town of Acos is located within a valley, with its main square, Plaza de Armas, at its heart. This central area is where you'll find the local church, a few small shops, and eateries. The streets are generally narrow and winding, reflecting its traditional Andean character. You'll often see local residents going about their daily lives, offering a glimpse into the local culture.

For those interested in experiencing local life and having easy access to hiking trails, staying near the Plaza de Armas is ideal. From here, you can easily access paths leading into the surrounding hills and to viewpoints offering panoramic vistas of the valley and nearby lakes.

The best time to visit Acos is during the dry season, which runs from May to October.

During these months, you can expect clear skies, plenty of sunshine, and cooler temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty and archaeological sites around Acos. The drier conditions also mean that hiking trails are more accessible and less muddy. This period is particularly good for families looking to enjoy outdoor activities without the disruption of heavy rainfall.

While the dry season is generally considered the best, bear in mind that July and August are peak travel months, so you might find more visitors and potentially higher prices for accommodation and tours. If you prefer a quieter experience, consider visiting in May, June, September, or October, when the weather is still excellent but the crowds are thinner.

The wet season, from November to April, brings more rain, especially from January to March. While the landscapes are lush and green during this time, persistent rainfall can sometimes disrupt travel plans and make some trails challenging.
