Originally, there were water troughs along here for the horses, and a chain from the USS Nebraska was strung between the light poles. The lights originally came from Seattle. Robert Moran designed and oversaw the construction of this mansion, which he built to retire to with his family. He also landed the contract for the building of the USS Nebraska (hence the chain) and served two terms as Mayor of Seattle (hence the light posts). He was a self made man and a pretty fascinating guy.
