"This establishment was amazing. From the time we arrived until the moment we left. The staff was very accommodating friendly and available. The food was great and we loved the breakfast and pool area. My only complaint was we stayed in room 1205. There was a strange odor coming from the bathroom. The actual bathroom door was very difficult to close, the shower door makes this horribly loud creaking sound, and the curtains leading out to the balcony had a very strange odor. "

"We liked the property. It was close to the ocean and hearing the ocean rise and fall was wonderful for sleeping and meditation. I did not like being placed on the 20th floor of the hotel. I'm aversive to heights. The room was fine and we had a partial view of the ocean. But we also had a good view of the favela bored into the mountainside behind the hotel. The favelas are unfortunate living areas of the poor and dispossessed, and this bothered me somewhat. The food was great. The restaurants...

"The hotel is up the hill away from the madness of the beach and downtown areas, but still a 15 minute walk to the heart of Gavea and a 15 minute cab ride (download Uber or app called "99" before you go!) to Ipanema and Leblon.
