Located on a beachfront boulevard, the Excelsior Copacabana Hotel is two km (1.25 mi) from Sugar Loaf and about seven km (4.5 mi) from the funicular ascending Corcovado, site of the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue.

“Copacabana Beach Central”
This hotel has it all, forget that the standard room may not have a beautiful view, they are comfy and your only going to be there to sleep. If you want the beach you have it, sun loungers on the beach provided as part of the service, roof top pool and bar amazing views up and down the beach, can also see the Sugar loaf and Corcovado. The latter is quite close. If all that isn't enough the service includes a free transfer to Santos Dumont or Galleao Airports for free. If using the latter book an hour before needed, sometimes they get held up but alway turn up eventually. Oh and if all that wasn't enough the breakfast is superb too great brazillian spread with a bit of bacon and eggs on the side.

“Great Rio Hotel, Would Stay Again”
This is a great hotel. We stayed over New Year's eve, and while it was a little pricey, it was well worth it. The proximity to Copacabana beach is one of it's best features, with free chairs readily available at the beach. Because of the timeframe, vendors were often out of chairs, so this came in handy. Security at the hotel was also very good, without being overbearing, along with 24/7 room service. The pool on the roof was amazing, as was the top notch breakfast, with so many food and juice choices. Would also recommend lunch and dinner; some of the best food we had on our stay. Also booked a tour of corcovado with the front desk, which was also executed flawlessly.
“Really the best with children!”
We have a 3 year old, which made us a little nervous at the beginning. From the start the entire staff of the hotel was great with her and helped us wherever they could. The only thing tricky was crossing the street to get to the beach. Once there it was great. The hotel had a great beach service with benches, umbrellas and towels. The hotel itself had a great roof-terrace with a stunning view.

Our second stay and won't be our last. Great location.Room and roof pool views of Copacabana unbeatable. Fabulous buffet breakfast with fantastic array of tropical fruits and juices as well as the more traditional hot and cold standard fare. Really helpful staff
“Centrally placed with superb view of Copacabana Beach”
This hotel is centrally placed on Copacabana Beach. The roof top pool, bar and terrace from 13 floors up gives a wonderful vista of the whole surrounds. Sugar Loaf and many of the volcanic outcrops are also visible. The Breakfast buffet was one of the best I have come across catering for all tastes and allows you to look over the sea at breakfast. The room standard was great and the staff very helpful. English was spoken by many.
“Nice Hotel”
We stayed in the hotel in beginning of April 2006 and really enjoyed the breakfast buffet and our stay. The hotel was very nice and right down the street from the Palace. The only thing that would have made our stay more enjoyable was if the hotel was on Ipanema, a much more happening beach.

Nice hotel in a great area - right across from Copacabana beach. Close to cafes/restaurants - but also used Front desk for dinner recomendations. Taxi's very convenient and relatively close to all main attractions. Felt safe going out in the evening. This hotel has a also great breakfast buffet. I have stayed a at couple of places in Ipanema - but when I go back to Rio I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent Customer service, room, location, food, beach service. Close to the public transportation.
