“Best hotel in Victoria”
I've stayed at the Oswego several times, and each time I am impressed by the service, rooms and amenities in this boutique hotel. Both the suites and the standard rooms are very nicely appointed, and have always been an extremely good value. My 1st choice for Victoria!
“Top notch hotel. Highly recommend it.”
The suites are very modern and have a nice ambiance with floor to ceiling windows & a view of the city. Staff are very pleasant to deal with. The restaurant is excellent! Pets stay for free. We will stay in this hotel at every opportunity.
“Good (although Demographically Ambiguous) Boutique Hotel”
Offseason, mid-November, I spent one night in this boutique hotel in the James Bay/Inner Harbour area of Victoria. It is quite an attractive property; lots of glass and stone with comfortable furniture, big windows and impressive views. Service levels were a bit thin. I took my luggage from the car to reception, checked-in, got my room/parking card, moved my luggage to my room and returned to move the car from the front of the hotel to the underground parking lot all with no appearance of bell staff or offer of service from the otherwise enthusiastic multilingual front desk clerk. The next morning, it took a few minutes to find anyone front of house in the cleaning fluid-scented restaurant to serve what turned out to be a rather ordinary hotel breakfast. Inexplicably, my newish flat screen TV had a rough, low def signal. The design purpose of making the one bed a Murphy bed was similarly obscure; it was not as if anything else could have been moved into the space when the bed was in the up position. I say this hotel is "demographically ambiguous" because it is in a relatively sedate neighborhood which tends to attract leisure tourists over hipsters yet, both night and day, the ample sound system piped in the trancey, vibey and, quite frankly, tedious two-chord lounge vamp that slowly drives me and my blood pressure up and out the door. In short, and as perhaps unfair as it is to judge it in low season, this hotel lacked personality. Many strata hotels are like that.
“Can't wait to go back”
It is very convenient to have a room with kitchen set, so that we can cook. The location is very good with beautiful harbor view, and services are very nice. Next time when we travel to Victoria, we will definitely choose this hotel.
“Perfect get-away”
Perfect place to stay for a short get-away. Close to downtown Victoria and the parks for walking. Room was lovely, great to have a kitchen, nice view of the water, staff were very helpful. Would certainly go back. Had more of a bed and breakfast atmosphere than a hotel.
“Would love to stay there again,”
Everything was wonderful about this hotel, the only complaint I had was that we didn't received our wake up call for the morning we had to leave to come back home. With a 3 year old it made for a lot of surrying around. The room itself (a one bedroom suite), was a home away from home (loved the marble floors, felt nice on the feet after walking all day). We were within walking distance of the marina, downtown, restaurants and my family currently living and working in James Bay (my brother co-owns the Heron Rock Bistro so it was nice and close to visit). Although I did not eat in the restaurant every day that I walked by smelled delicious, hahaha, felt that if I ate there it would be cheating on Heron Rock. I would for sure stay here again but I think it would only be when I was on my own, I wasn't thinking when I booked, that I should have picked a place with a pool because it would have been easier to have kept my son amused.
“Very Impressed!”
What a great find! Service at reception and in restaurant was great- staff were very friendly, genuinely nice! Hotel room was very comfortable, received complimentary upgrade to a one bedrom suite- didn't even ask for it. Location is just off the waterfront, an easy & pleasant walk in a safe & quiet nieghbourhood. We will defintely return and use the Oswego as our base . For those reading the review, we've also stayed at The Grande, Delta, etc. and this is much nicer for the $ paid. Restaurant on site is very good and so is Vics steakhouse next door!
“Has Everything You Need”
This was a very elegant hotel and we were both very impressed with it. We stayed in the Studio Suite which had a pull-down murphy bed, kitchenette and large bathroom with separate shower and large tub. The kitchenette had a stovetop, toaster, microwave, dishwasher, cutlery, silverware, pots and pans, and most every basic kitchen necessity. We had a lovely view that overlooked other hotels but we could see the main Parliament Building from our window. It's very close to everything. It's not right on the main strip, but it's a block from it and just as close. The attendants were friendly and accomodating and the room even came with a free newspaper every morning and a few other magazines. It was well worth the money and made our trip very enjoyable.
“Big, big rooms.”
The rooms are very modern apartments. We were in a one bedroom with a full kitchen, dining area and living room. Very short walk to the inner harbour and on a quiet street. Have stayed twice now and is my new favourite hotel in Victoria.
“Unique Hotel”
I loved the comtemporary decor of the lobby and rooms. This hotel was great! We had a beautiful view from our balcony. The rooms were very roomy and even had a small kitchenette and dining table. The lobbies, rooms and hallways were very clean. When we checked in, we treated ourselves to some drinking water from a pitcher that contained mint and strawberries which was a unique touch. It was 2-3 blocks from the Victoria Clipper ferry. We were able to walk, even with suitcases in tow. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
