“Great Value in the Heart of Victoria”
Clean room, friendly and well trained staff, restaurant in hotel is just OK but the prices are very affordable. No matter, there are TONS of eateries very close by. The only quibble I have is that there are several night clubs surrounding the hotel and come closing time there was a lot of yelling and hooting in the street below. I travel with ear plug so I was OK plus the hotel kindly supplies ear plugs for your sleeping pleasure.
“Disappointed”
We stayed here for a weekend a couple years ago and were very happy, but this time was awful. There was a lot of street noise (music, yelling, cars) that kept us awake until 3am. After a miserable night, we ordered breakfast to be delivered to the room and the delivery person spilled a cup of coffee on the tray, drenching our utensils and plates of food. He came back with another coffee, but didn't clean up the mess, or even bring kitchen towels so we had to use bathroom towels to sop up the coffee. The food was decent, but for some reason we weren't able to charge the meal to the room. The vending machine was 2/3 empty and the potato chips I reluctantly bought were stale. When we mentioned these things at check-out, the clerk gave us a weak 'oh, sorry' and wished us a good day.
“Would highly recommend this Hotel!”
The service of this Hotel was astounding, they went over and above to meet all our needs. Very impressed with the people at the front desk, cleaniing staff and the valet service. I will come back and recommend this Hotel to anyone.
“Location is best asset”
Perfect location for shopping and harbour visits. No need for a car if you are staying downtown. (although a taxi from the airport will cost you $50).
“Beatuiful Vancouver Island location”
Very nice hotel. convenient to downtown. We parked the car and didn't see it for a few days as we enjoyed walking to all the downtown locations this hotel was close to. Wonderful front desk personnel were very helpful with suggestions of things to do and directions. We stayed in the suite room with our family of 5 which was terrific because the room had a complete kitchen with utensils included. That made it easier to manage costs since we got food from the grocery store and cooked (warmed up) in the room for breakfast and dinner. It made for a nice change and a big cost savings. Would definitely stay here again.
“Very accomodating of changes”
Due to changes in our schedule, we had to make several changes to our stay/itinerary. Staff were very helpful in accommodating those changes.
“Hidden Gem in a Great Location”
Don't overlook this mid-sized Best Western in the heart of Victoria. Easy walking distance of virtually everything in downtown Victoria. Very polite and courteous staff. One of the staff booked a whale watching tour for us without any hesitation; she seemed stunned when I tipped her. Well equipped rooms with all the amenities other hotels nickel and dime you for - free WiFi, frig, coffee & tea service, etc.
“A nice place in a nice city!”
Very nice hotel for the price, which was mid-range, so the value is great. The hotel is obviously an older building, but very nicely renovated and appointed. It had all the amenities I would expect in a modern hotel and everything was working fine. It was also clean. That`s important to me. The staff was polite and helpful. The front desk crew was well informed on local sights and attractions and very helpful with directions, calling taxis. providing umbrellas etc. I had to travel early from Vancouver and arrived a bit early and needed to freshen up for an early afternoon meeting with friends. The staff was excellent in getting me into a fresh room early so I could carry on with my day. I recommend Best Western Carlton Plaza highly.
“very good”
I asked the front desk for the nearest bus station and offered a sightseeing flyer insted. The tissue paper was not replaced. coffee was not replaced.
“Great experience at Best Western”
Upon arrival at hotel they valet parked our vehicle into their parkade very quickly. The staff at the front desk was extremely efficient and friendly...very helpful with giving us directions on where to find attractions. The room was very clean. Great hotel for a weekend away. The only kinda negative remark we could make was the restaurant inside the hotel lacked good service. Staff was more concerned about talking than serving the few customers they had.
