“Great Stay”

Got a great deal from Expedia on the rate for a suite facing the ocean - out our front windows was the harbour, where float planes landed and taxied out of the harbour to take off elsewhere and the ferry docked as well, it was never loud or intrusive, but really cool to see, especially for my 5 year old girl. The other sde faced the BC Legislature which was all lit up for Christmas - super! The staff had a playpen ready for our baby and were very nice and very accomodating. Staff were always helpful and very pleasant. Rooms were clean, well kept, and nice - in a 1990sor 80s kind of way - but all well worth it.

“Can't imagine staying anywhere else!”

This was one of the finest hotels I've visited. Elegant decor, great service personnel, comfy bed, and free wi-fi. Perfectly situated. On waterfront, one block from ferry, next to Parliment buildings, and a 2 block walk to center of a charming town offering shops and dining.

Area recommendations
Downtown Victoria was as charming as it could be. High tea at the Empress Hotel was a highlight of the trip, but we couldn't have been more pleased with the "lunch special" at the Irish Pub down the street as well. It was noticeable how clean the entire city was maintained, but understandable as it focuses on tourism. We spent a day and a half just walking the streets, taking in the European flavor of the town. Take the tour of Butchart Gardens! This HUGE garden display was stunning and is, deservedly, a national Canadian treasure. Don't miss a visit there.

“Best Hotel in downtown”

This hotel was excellent in every way. We have stayed at the Empress and Coast on 2 previous occassions but the location and price of the Grand cannot be beat.

“Awesome!”

Great place to stay! Location is great and the price is awesome. The staff was the BEST I have ever seen in a hotel. I am not sure if it is just because they are canadian(canadians are always super nice) or if they are required to be over the top friendly. Even the maid said "have a great day hope you enjoyed your stay" to us as we were leaving the room. The rooms are nice, not luxurious but good. Hotel is right across frmo the James Bay and very close to where you would get off from the Victoria Clipper. Downtown is also just a short 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

“Great location, great staff, great restaurants”

This is a great hotel, and I would recommend it. The only real drawbacks that I experienced were that the bed wasn't especially comfortable (sagged a bit and transferred too much motion when moving) and that TV is an old-style CRT (which doesn't really matter much). I would still stay here again.

“Ideally LOcated Comfort”

Can't beat the location, being right across the street from the harbour and next door to the parliament buildings. Staff was pleasant and attentive. One downside was the high cost of parking.
