“Not impressed. Not worth 3 stars”
No Pool or hot tub
“Good price, clean hotel, OK location”
Good value, very clean, nice kitchenette. Not really walking distance to downtown, less than ideal neighborhood. We had no complaints, low price and well kept.
“Red Lion off the beaten path”
This hotel is far far out of Victoria in an industrial business area with a lot of night activity going on from druggies or "girls" or something strange. It has "efficiency" suites which our family wanted, so people live there who are construction workers or others, and the suites are a 2' wide counter with sink, 2 burners, and refrigerator right next to the bed. Tiny bathroom. Outside are huge lights all night for some dicey reason. The safe service was give your valuables to the clerk, he seals them in an envelope and puts them in a safe. No receipt, no safeguards.
“only 1 flaw”
The only problem I had with this hotel was parking. All access to the hotel was through the lobby, but there are only a dozen or so parking spots close to the doors. The rest of the parking is behind the building, not at all convenient.
“Wow People Are Picky”
It's a very good hotel, and while the rooms are small, they're not unusually small compared to what you'd get at any other place. The rooms are tidy and ours were quite well-decorated. The hotel is located rather conveniently in Victoria, though the liquor store and bar make for some interesting late-night scenery. The noise is easily dealt with, and when my window was closed I couldn't hear a thing. I would recommend this hotel overall based on cost and cleanliness, and it's as affordable a way as any to see Victoria.
“Rooms like closets”
Room was clean and looked like it was updated 4 or 5 years ago and is in good shape for what appears to be an old place. The room though is tight. The 2 Queen beds over fill the room, and the furiture and old tv is too big. No room to move. If you like the roominess of an airplane bathroom, this is for you.
“Poor Hygiene, be aware”
The hotel was a good price but it was obviously a more run down hotel by the time we entered the hotel. We looked at the soaps and shampoos in our bathroom and all the bottles had stickers to show they were sealed and all the seals were broken. The second day we were there, we opened the bar soap and it was covered in mold. The amenities were good at the hotel but the cleanliness was very questionable.
“Not worth staying at all..... Find a better one”
This hotel was a big disappointment. The green carpets were soaked with years and years of dust. The Beds were like sleeping on metal springs. Was the worst bed I ever slept on. If you are a traveller who is visiting Victoria and expected to walk all day and plan on having a good rest at night, this is not the right hotel. Pay a little more extra and find a better deal.
“Would definitely stay there again”
Nice hotel: clean, friendly staff, good location, good rates. I certaily recommend it to anyone going to Victoria.
“Trying, but needs work”
You can tell the owners are trying hard, however the hotel is tired and needs work. The neighbourhood is also something to be desired when you see the folks that are hanging around and drinking in the parking lot at night on the weekend. This was also our first "Blind buy"for a hotel, and I am not sure I would do that again. The Expedia ratings which I based this purchase on sounded better than what we experienced.
