“Excellent hotel in great location - will want to stay there again”
The hotel is just off San Marco Square, within less than a 5 minute walk. The room was very well decorated, clean, and comfortable using antique furniture. The bath was large and well maintained, as was the large closet. The hotel was very quiet, and a great place to relax after a busy day walking and siteseeing around Venice. The hotel staff was very cooperative and spoke reasonably good English. They had many recommendations on places to eat, ways to use the public transportation systems and things to be sure to see during our stay. The breakfast they served in the room was plentiful, served on time, and had several optional items that could be ordered. The hotel even had a "take away" breakfast for us the day we left - we had to leave to catch our flight too early for us to take advantage of the earliest in room breakfast service (7:00 - 7:30). The hotel is right on the canal that goes under the Bridge of Sighs, so you can arrive by water taxi - an expensive way to get there. It is easy to find from the Vaporetto or Water Bus stops at San Marco. The absence of an in hotel restaurant was not a problem at all - there are several within a few hundred feet of the hotel entrance. We hope to return to Venice in the future, and this hotel would be our first choice.
“"Winning" Venezia Hotel”
The Al Ponte de Sospiri Hotel is an excellent hotel. Helpful, courteous staff. Comfortable, spacious light filled room with all amenities required. I would not hesitate recommending this hotel, and look forward to staying here again in the future when visiting Venice.
“Highly recommended”
The hotel is ideally located just around the corner from St Marc's square, and is a fantastic base from which to break out. It is not the biggest hotel (approx 8 rooms), and is more "boutique", however don't be fooled. The lack of size means that what you do receive is an exceptional level of personal service. The hotel made our trip to Venice a very special one, and i would fully recommend this to anyone. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but you are spoilt for choice with restaurants immediately on the doorstep. The holtel was a real find.
“A gem of a hotel”
We were not disappointed with this hotel; it lived up to the glowing reviews of others. Old world charm combined with modern comfort, pleasant staff, good location.
“Brilliant hotel, right in the centre & value for money”
Excellent little hotel. Perfectly located. Staff very pleasant and helpful and extremely polite. Breakfast in the bedroom was great - giving you greater flexibility when getting ready. Rooms are pleasant and decorated nicely. The sofa in the room (doubles as a bed) has seen its last days - sometimes uncomfortable to sit on but other than that will thoroughly recomment and will definately stay there again.
“Good Hotel”
Good central situation and, despite being only a couple of hundred yards from St Mark's Square, nice and quiet at the end of a cul-de-sac. Friendly helpful staff. Large clean room. Rather dull complimentary breakfast brought to the room. Minor criticisms were 1.Small scale maintainace not very good. fittings tended to fall off the walls. 2.'Free WiFi' was not available in our room. we had to go to a neighbouring sister hotel before we could pick up emails etc. None the less we'd be happy to return
“Best Hotel In Venice”
I would like to say that i was extremely happy with our choice of hotel it was right in heart of everything. It was wonderful to have breakfast in your room at your own leisure. The hotel staff were helpful. If you are after a romantic break then this is an ideal hotel. Rooms were wonderful and I would stay in this hotel again. There is building work going on across from the hotel but we never heard a thing from them all weekend but we weren't there in the week.
“Charming hotel”
It was a five star experience... but if you like a late night cuppa take a kettle.
“Venice Central”
A bit tricky to find but worth the effort, the Hotel Al Ponte Dei Sospiri is about 90 seconds walk from San Marco. Staff are very helpful and friendly, the room was bright, clean and airy and while a touch expensive puts you right where you need to be.
“exactly as described”
The hotel was exactly as descibed and we stayed in the Red room in the photographs. Typical over the top Venitian style with a huge chandelier which just added to the charm. We visted for a family wedding and the hotel staff were great at giving directions to the various venues we had to find.

Area:
San Marco, Venice, Italy: San Marco (St Marks) is quintessential visitors Venice. The Piazza San Marco, famous for its pigeons, campanile, basilica, Palazzo Ducale (Doges Palace) and expensive cafes, is unmissable. The waterfront views are legendary and more gondolas depart from here than anywhere else in the city. In season the Piazza teems with day trippers though just a block or two away streets are quiet and offer more museums and palaces to explore.
