Perfect location for local theatres

Posted 23-Nov-2014
Pros: Welcoming staff. Felt like we were at home.
Cons: Room was stuffy, smelt of cleaning products and required airing out. Bathroom sink had large crack in the basin which is a health concern (bacteria).
Location: loved the theatres, galleries, restaurants, the market and location, location, location!
Loved the convenience of it's central location. We were there to see a play and it was literally next door to the hotel. So nice.

Great place to stay

Posted 18-Nov-2014
Pros: Everything.
Cons: We were very happy with everything and would not change a thing except, of course, the cost.
Location: Perfect location. Theatre, shopping, art works, restaurants ... All right in Granville Island. Plus water taxis to many locations around False Creek.
We splurged a bit...We had a beautiful king/balcony room with a view of the harbour and the Vancouver sky line. We could have stayed in our room the entire trip and been happy. Rooms are very nicely updated with marble vanities and rain showers in the washrooms, lovely white linens, comfortable bed mattresses and easy to adjust room temperature. The hotel is right in Granville Island so we were close to many entertainment options. (We chose the theatre Sports Improv which offered us a full evening of laughter. Dinner at the Sandbar was excellent.) The market and art shops were interesting to visit. The water taxis offered quick and easy transportation all around False Creek. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay than the Granville Island Hotel. "Thank you" to Katie and Ozzy (front desk) for being so helpful.

An Excellent Choice

Posted 3-Nov-2014
Pros: Prices and service.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Granville Island Market....shops....restaurants.
Fabulous location on Granville Island. Did not have to worry about parking as it was valet service. Being there for my birthday I was treated exceptionally well. Treated with respect and an incredible room made for a very nice stay. The restaurant was also excellent as the service. Prices were fair and the view exquisite.

Quiet hotel close to downtown.

Posted 1-Nov-2014
Pros: everything
Cons: A towel rail in the bathroom would be nice and a lower hook on the back of the door.
Location: As above. Shopping at the market is wonderful and there are other nice little shops, cafes, restaurants, walking areas and seats for relaxing.
It was in a delightful position on an island, with views of the city and water all around, but seemed miles away from a busy city. The hotel is very comfortable, with pleasant decor. The meals are good and nicely served. We hope to return sometime.

nice place

Posted 11-Oct-2014
Pros: convenient
Cons: nothing
Location: market, shops
The only hitch was we were charged more than the stated amount per night on the bill at checkout. We did not have the original Expedia printout with us and so could not contest the amount. Checked when we got home but by then we had paid their amount. W. Mann

Mixed review

Pros: See review.
Cons: Pillows!!!!!
Location: See review.
If you don't mind the relative chaos of Granville Island the hotel is great. Even then it is located at a relatively quiet end of the island. Spectacular waterfront location with great views. Hotel staff was very cordial. The room was a little bizarre in arrangement with little room to sneak past the bed. Although the mattress was comfy and the bedding high quality my one very significant complaint relates to the 8" thick foam rubber pillows that must have cost $2 at K-Mart. Just really no reason for this. If you did not have back or neck pain before retiring you would in the AM. This was the most significant flaw. The other relates to the BrewPub. It seemed kind of cool for an in-hotel brewery and also cool that much of the 2nd floor was occupied by the brewing apparatus. Oddly it was almost impossible to determine if the brewpub was ever actually open. Sometimes curtains were drawn across the doorway and other times not but there was never any suggestion of any patrons and overall it appeared entirely uninviting. Lastly we left at approximately 6:15 AM at which time the elevator is apparently locked out. It took quite a bit of searching to locate the stairs to the lobby. In summary great location and views and nice staff combined with some oddities ---- and horrible pillows. .
