Small intimate hotel at edge of downtown Vancouver

Posted 16-Apr-2014
Pros: I liked the superb location, beautiful as well as easily accessible to activities on and off the water and the calm peaceful atmosphere in the hotel.
Location on Granville Island is lovely....market, art and artisan stores, funky shops, children's playground and a variety of restaurants all within a half hour circular stroll. Hotel's restaurant and many rooms look out into a yacht harbour and condo high rises in downtown Vancouver. Hotel is small....3 storey...quiet and tranquil in décor and atmosphere. Parking on Granville Island can be tight, but the hotel has enough reserved 24 hour spaces.

Lovely place to stay in Vancouver.

Posted 16-Apr-2014
Pros: Location and amenities like bar, restaurant.
Cons: Business station in rooms.
Location: Granville Island is full of places to walk and good cafés, shops and the market only blocks away.
Great way to leave congested Vancouver behind. The hotel is on Granville Island a little Island escape from the city. Love to be here particularly in nice weather. Terrific deck overlooking the water and great restaurant. The rooms are pleasantly appointed and quite cheery. Probably the only thing that needs some attention is the business desk portion of the room. Electrical outlets are hard to find and hard to reach once found.

Only hotel on granville island...close, comfy..

Posted 14-Apr-2014
Pros: Great location, comfy room, great staff, off season rates
2 nights & 3 days at GIH. We cycled the seawall from stanley park to jericho park, grazed the market, great bites and brews at Wiks, sake tasting at osake, street buskers, bc public tv is a model and fun to watch when just chilling in the room. Booking w Expedia did not include parking fee as advertised, a minor & awkward disappointment at check in time.

Awesome location

Posted 13-Apr-2014
We had a great time here. Location is great with the water taxis right there you can get to where you want to go for the most part. We went to the movies on burrad. It is a pet friendly hotel and we had our dog. The room was very clean, and the staff was great and accommodating. We ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The view is amazing and a very pleasant atmosphere. Having the market right there is handy for food and treats too. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We would stay here again. PJ

Wonderful Holiday

Nice to see green grass again plus colourful flowers. We're from Toronto where all is white or brown. Staff at hotel were superfriendly and welcoming. Meals were great. View is stunning.

Pros: The location to everything
We had family in Kits, so we were nice and close. Took the little boat across the bay. Walked around down town. Had a really nice breakfast on the hotel.

Great location to downtown Vancouver.

Posted 7-Apr-2014
Pros: The location couldn't have been any better. Did get a nice view of the city skyline from room windows which opened. It was nice to get fresh air.
Location: The Aquabus is a great way to get into downtown Vancouver to see the sites and just a short walk from hotel.
The location was great. The room was a bit small and right next to the hotel's brewery, so a bit noisy. It was clean and comfortable. Would stay there again.

Great location, adequate

Posted 2-Apr-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Rm small for deluxe/$$ Poor rm design - nowhere to hang towels in bathroom. Was chgd for 2d night parking when not needed. iPh dock not working.
Location: Granville Island is beautiful and has everything (shop to rent kayaks) within easy walking distance. Easy access to downtown but not as congested.
Would I recommend this hotel to a friend, I checked "yes" but actually it depends. There are few decent hotels centrally located, but outside of the DT core. When our offices were located in the Shaughnessy area, I used to recommend the GIH to out-of-town colleagues over, say, the Holiday Inn on Broadway, and I would still recommend to a bus. traveler who doesn't need to be DT, but doesn't want to be stuck by the airport. But, for the price, there are better hotels. The main draw is the location. Granville Island has everything: market, artisans' workshops, shopping, theatres, restaurants, beautiful sights, extensive walking/biking trails, and easy access to DT & other areas of the city. There is ample parking, and the parking charge is reasonable compared to other hotels. PARKING TIP: if you are staying for only one night, you likely don't need to pay for parking. There is free 3-hour parking from 7am to 7pm (green signs) right next to hotel pkg (blue signs). If you arrive at 4 in the afternoon and leave before 10 am, you're good. The hotel doesn't encourage this. Criticism #1, I had a complimentary prkg pass for night 1, and for 2d night, I advised I wouldn't require parking. I was charged anyway, even tho I was assured this wouldn't occur. I didn't notice this on my bill until later. I chose deluxe rm; it was quite small, so I don't know what a std rm entails. Agree with another rvwr about design idiosyncracies. For the $, I'd expect better. But adequate.

Nice view, decent hotel

there was lipstick stains on the pillow... was not very clean but everything else was just ok. It really is the only hotel on granville island so staying there for a night was fine.

Off-season, weekend getaway

Posted 30-Mar-2014
Pros: Small size, friendly staff, beautiful bathroom.
Cons: Add a breakfast into the room rate?
Location: Granville Island is made for walking & exploring. Yaletown is a "water bug" taxi across False Creek. Short drives to Chinatown, Gastown.
We took advantage of an off-season, weekend special to treat the March blues in the cloudy, cool, rainy northwest. This hotel is a perfect base for exploring Granville Island and greater Vancouver. Our room was small, but very comfortable.
