"The hotel is unique in decor. It is older, but very clean and antique decor. I loved it. We were pleasantly surprised to get a larger room. Very close to Central Park and Museum across the street. Also subway is close. We walked to the theatre district for a play. I was so happy to find that cleaning staff found my wallet. I had left it in the safe and staff had given it to the office. "The Empire Hotel is literally across the street from Lincoln Center, so if you are in NYC for a performance, the location cannot be beat. The Empire Rooftop bar/restaurant was so delightful we went twice, for Sunday brunch and cocktails before the performance. The hotel is showing some wear and could use TLC; for example the wall artwork in the lobby was in disrepair, a lobby TV was held up with 2-by-4s, our bathroom toilet seat was broken, and the room's radiator/AC sounded like a jackhammer....
