“Excelsior was perfect.”
We had driven from Boston and were able to park a rental SUV easily, just across the street and a very reasonable rate. We had two rooms, one of which they upgraded to a small suite for our cute young married kids. We had terrific rates and real windows that opened to a stunning view with of the Museum of Nat. History.
“Would go back”
There were two maintenance issues: 1. Our heater began leaking. Staff fixed the heater immediately. Staff was extremely courteous. 2. The tub drained slowly. The condition of the bathroom was otherwise perfect. While a nuisance, the tub did not impact our satisfaction with the overall experience. The bedding and furnishings were extremely comfortable. The dining options in the area were good. The dining room itself was lovely for breakfast. The continental breakfast was well stocked and staff was attentive to refilling coffee dispensers. I had not been to that part of town in over 15 years. The neighborhood has definitely up-scaled, but has not become unaffordable. I will definitely go back soon.
“Lovely, peaceful neighborhood.”
Relaxing area. Across from Museum of Natural History, Central Park. Same block subway access.
“Great place to stay!”
This hotel is a definite place to stay. Good sized rooms, clean, friendly service. Can't beat the location! Will stay here next time I'm in NY.
“Great hotel!”
We visited with friends from out of town. The hotel had a perfect location for great dining options(right by Columbus) and sight seeing(the Natural History Museum w/subway stop is right next door). The front desk staff was friendly. Our room was lovely and comfortable. I would go back in a minute.
“Great place, superb location”
Only compliments for this hotel! We were a group of three (one couple and one friend) and since all regular rooms with two beds were full, they upgraded us to a suite for our entire stay, free of charge. The hotel is right by Central Park, so we were able to go jogging in the park every morning. It's a short walk to the East Side, where all the shopping is, but removed enough to be pretty quiet at night. A great place for someone on a leisure trip. For business it would be fine too, that is, if you don't mind the outrageous charges to use the internet.
“I already recommended to other travelers!”
Great location, great service, good and fair price. Saying that about a place in NYC is unique!
“Excellent value and good hotel”
Excellent location, lovely, large well appointed (upgraded) room; quite quiet (for NYC); concierge needs serious lessons in nice, rest of staff very helpful and pleasant; should not chrage even the $10 daily WiFi fee
“Lovely New York Hotel!”
From the leafy surroundings of Central Park to the elegant lobby, warm staff, spacious rooms and charming bathroom, this New York hotel is something special. With all the riches of the upper West Side all around us, restaurants and shops and coffeehouses, and the rich array of museums within easy walks or cab rides, how could you not enjoy your stay? This hotel is a gem, a bit of European style with American comfort & New York grace.
“Good Spot”
We were quite comfortable here. We did skip the hotel breakfast. It looked OK but pricey compared to other spots nearby. I would return to this hotel.
