“a very pleasant stay”
Excellent and varied breakfasts, good location, helpful staff, and the extra added bonus of the little happy hour, where the "snacks" were generous and imaginative and the wine was fine. Great value in a charming small hotel.
“Home from home”
I visited SF from the UK and wanted something central, good value and comfortable. PA satisfied all these requirements with the bonus of a boutique feel. I had the cheapest room which was fairly small and looked into the courtyard brick wall but that didn't matter - it was clean and cosy. Loved the furniture and the bathroom. And I took my laptop to the sitting room downstairs to sit by the fire with a cup of tea using the free wifi. I recommend.
“Character and Personality”
We loved this beautiful hotel, it beats staying in a big chain hotel. The TV on a lean in the cupboard would be our only complaint, but did not worry us too much. The rooms are small but quaint and we loved the fire place in the room. The wine and cheese is a great place to meet fellow guests and the breakfast was the best we had in any hotel in the US. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for something with atmosphere and personality.
“wonderful stay in San Francisco”
This will always be the place we stay when we go to San Francisco. The receptionists were extremely helpful, offering print outs of things to do based on your preferences. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful (even for a vegetarian), there was also cheese and wine in the evening where you could talk to the other guests, a beautiful comfortable enviroment. We were in a room with a fireplace which was spacious, very quaint decoration.
“Delightful”
Personnel were friendly and helpful. Breakfast choices were varied and delicious. Cookie jar--wonderful.
“A Slice of Europe”
We stayed at the Auberge for one week in August. It has all the charm of a Parisian B&B, and the concierges and other staff were always there to make suggestions and answer questions. The breakfasts were exceptional - fresh fruit, quiche, eggs, pastries and more and the wine reception every afternoon was a cozy way to review our day and plan the next. We chose a small queen room and I would choose a larger one next time to have a bit more space. The hotel was such a pleasure we were able to accept the noises from the street during the night.
“What a great place - quaint, charming and different”
We stayed at the Petite Auberge for our 20th Anniversary and had an exceptional time. A complimentary bottle of champagne and a tin of chocolates along with a nice note wishing us a happy anniversary were waiting for us upon arrival. The bed was very comfortable and the room charming with antique furniture and comfortable chairs. The old elevator was great and the wireless internet accessible and fast. Wine time was a great thing to look forward to every night from 5-6:30 (though the wine lasted till 7). We even hurried home from our day travels to enjoy wine with other couples from around the world and share perspectives and local finds like the Rue Lepic Restaurant which is only 2 blocks from the hotel and fantastic. Wine time consists of 6-8 bottles of wine and appetizers for the guests at no charge. There is also soda and water available at no charge to guests in the fridge downstairs. Breakfast, also served downstairs, was another great and tasty experience that varied its menu from day to day. The bell hop was very friendly and directed us to a very affordable and good Thai restraint nearby. Only issue with the hotel is to be sure to close your windows before the trash collectors come around at 5a.m. gas fireplaces in the rooms were the most authentic I have seen and a nice touch. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for something quaint, charming and different…. as opposed to a Hilton or Marriott.
“voyage de noce”
super hôtel, le personnel est vraiment très sympa et serviable.
“Will definitely stay here again next time we're in San Francisco”
Very friendly and helpful staff; excellent location; great breakfast; complementary cookies and tea/coffee/hot choc/soft drinks available 24 hrs; only 1.5 blocks from cable car stop; close to Union Square shopping district.
“Cute and Cozy”
If you are looking for a large "North American Style" hotel (like the Hilton) this hotel is not for you. However it has a very appealing "European" style to it. The rooms are small, but comfy and the free breakfast is exactly what you would expect from a European hotel. The free wine and hors d'oeuvres in the afternoon are a wonderful way to meet visitors from all over the world and the free cookies, pop, and water are a nice touch. The location is excellent, within walking distance of almost everything. We only used a taxi once to get to reservations for the Alcatraz tour in the early morning. The staff went out of their way to be helpful every time we needed them. There are lots of wonderful restaurants within a very short walk and the hotel staff has prepared a list of them.
