“Great location; spectacular lobby”
The lobby was festooned with thousands of hanging lights for the holidays: a beautiful sight. You cannot beat this location ... near the Ferry Building and Market St. Room was large and comfortable, with a lovely balcony (and a view of the bay). The room could have been cleaner (found some hairs -- gross! -- in the bathroom), and the sink was cracked.
“Business Hotel”
If you are traveling with a family this is not the place for you. This hotel is obviously intended for a business person with an expense account. Conveniently located with beautiful atmoshere and lots of amenities. The rooms could be bigger, but have all you need and are quiet. No comfort food here. The Chef has surrendered good tasting food for elegance, which is reflected by the price. The staff was pleasant and eager to assist with any request. I will stay here again when on business, but will look elsewhere when accompanied by family.
“Clean and Comfy”
The hotel was very clean, the beds were comfy and that's all I really care for. The location wasn't that great and it was unfortunate that the protesters were across from the hotel.
“Needs Work! Great Location.”
As a SF native I knew what to expect from hotels in the city (small rooms, noisy, old building). I picked this hotel for it is close to everything that I wanted to see. BUT...... The room was a major disappoinment. There was a bag of left over food in the mini bar from a previous guest and the mini bar was off. Then in the bathroom I saw a few areas where the tile had black mold. The last few moments in the room.... I was bending over to get my suitcase and noticed what was either vomit or food that had been spilled and dripped down the bed skirt. It was a swath about 10 inches long and as equally as wide. It turned my stomache and I simply walked out. I never said anything but just made a mental note to stay in a different place next time. This property is overdue for a remodel and some serious cleaning. I woudln't stay here again until they do!
“Lovely hotel”
Wonderful bed, nice view
“fun in the city”
We had a great weekend in San Francisco staying at the Hyatt parking is just around the corner and we saved a few bucks there the location was excellent and I can't say enough about our stay what fun we had we will be coming back soon
“Good but not great”
Very accommodating staff - but we did not feel that the room standards reflected the price. Great location, anyway, and very impressive lobby.
“Heart of San Francisco”
We stayed at the Hyatt Regency for 5 days and loved it! A wonderful location in the financial district that was safe and close to a lot of tourist attractions. The BART, trolley and cable car stops were all extremely close. The concierge was very helpful as was the doorman and most of the front desk clerks. Also, we never had a bad meal at the restaurant or with room service. The only con during our trip was this: The front desk attendant checking us in was abrupt and distracted. We had several delays getting checked into our room because the front desk thought it had been cleaned and it was not. We finally checked in about 3 hours after arriving. The management sent up some wine and fruit later that evening for our trouble.
“Bad experience”
The hotel has no privacy policy. We stayed for three nights, since the beginning they allowed several drunk teams to scream in lobby and hallways all night long 'til dawn.
“Seem to be cutting back”
This hotel is a good value for the basics. Anything extra will be charged. No free Wi-Fi. Newspapers used to be delivered to the room. Then they were stacked at the elevators. Now they are only available at the bell desk in the lobby. Like many hotels they have installed nice big flat panel TVs but the selections are limited, all displayed in the wrong format (stretched and not adjustable) and no High Def channels. There seems to be fewer staff around. They DID replace the non-functioning clock unit when we called. The hotel has started a practice of not changing towels OR bed linens unless you notify the desk by phone that you want this service. That seems rather extreme to me. The rooms are quiet, have nice views and are good sized. We enjoy the location near the bay, ferries and food market. The street peddlers are becoming tackier and more intrusive in the neighborhood. We will consider using a different hotel in the future.
