Did the job.

A great location at the end of the cable car line. Our room was small as it had the stair wall intruding into the space. It was very hot and stuffy, the bathroom had no fan, and the windows didn't open (I understand why). To make it habitable we had to have the air conditioning on, which was then so noisy and so close to the bed head, it was difficult to sleep. Reception suggested paying for another hotel, as they had no spare rooms. So our stay was one where we slept badly, and I wouldn't use the hotel again. But SF is fabulous, and we enjoyed our stay, and there are worse things to worry about. Cycling over the bridge is great fun. Buy a pass for the cable cars from the turntable offices at the end of the lines - it's great value. Go and watch the Sea Lions on Pier 39 and wonder..

An unexpected surprise !

Posted 17-Sep-2014
Pros: Cleanliness. Cultural fusion of decor, nice and bright.
Cons: Complimentary breakfast is good but minimal. A few items like yogurt could be added. Also no seating in b'fast area yet. Needed to tray food to room.
Location: Right in the center of town. Close to cable cars, financial district, shopping, restaurants, Chinatown, and bus tours within easy walking distance.

Great time in San Francisco will definetly go back again. Not very happy with Expedia and the way they handled our travel plans after they had made changes to our flights.

Overpriced and in need of a renovation

Posted 31-Aug-2014
Don't be fooled by the pictures, this hotel is in desperate need of a renovation. It was extremely overpriced and the TV didn't work properly, AC was loud and didn't work, when we called hotel staff to come check the TV they said someone would be right up and no one ever came. For the same price (or a little bit more) you can stay at the Westin and know you're getting an amazing experience. I would not recommend this hotel or ever stay here again.

Central to city

Pros: Location.
Location: Close to Union Square. Very nice restaurants nearby Close to metro, trams and trolleys Great location. Good access to airport using the metro.
Very nice hotel. Close to trolleys and trams, very central near Union Square. Provides Grab and Go breakfast! Super redevelopment due to begin Dec.2014 which will include proper breakfast facilities and bigger public areas. This will make the hotel even better! Would recommend.

Don't EVER stay here!

Posted 11-Aug-2014
Pros: The location is perfect. In the heart of Union Square right off the Powell St. BART line.
Cons: The entire hotel decor, design, and staff service.
The hotel is dilapidated. I would not stay here again. The location is GREAT, however the hotel is run down. The rooms are cramped and most have no windows. The bathroom sink sits outside the bathroom. The bed does not even have full size pillows. If I were you, thoroughly look at pictures of the hotel online before you book. We checkin early and asked for a higher floor room so as to not hear street noise. We left our luggage went shopping and came back. The front desk person forgot our request and were we stuck with a 2nd floor unit. Bad service!

Centrally located hotel

Posted 2-Aug-2014
From the moment we walked into this hotel, the staff were friendly, efficient and accommodating. We arrived early and a room was found for us. Initially, the hotel could not find any record of our booking through Expedia but the staff handled the confusion quietly and efficiently referring to our booking records. The room was large, clean and well appointed. The air conditioning worked well and street noise was not a problem, in spite of the hotel's central location. Breakfast was basic but this was a minor issue. The location of the hotel was fantastic, right in the heart of the shopping district.
