"A good hotel in Marseille"
The staff were very helpful in every area of the hotel's activity. I would certainly return and recommend the hotel to others. There is plenty to do and experience in the area.

"Sea View is a must"
The room was small but comfortable, and the bed very nice. However, there were no instructions on how to use the rather strange coffee machine, no info for tourists, only one rather uncomfortable chair, and no where to store clothes, other than one cupboard for which they had only provided three hangers (for two people!). No drawers whatsoever. Now it may be possible that they put Expedia customers in the smallest rooms, but who knows - but certainly for a four star I felt the room was only three star. Having said that the cleaners ought to be commended - we returned every day to a fresh room kept in good condition. The view from the room was great as well, and the location of the hotel, being near the underground, and the old port with all the tourist attractions is brilliant. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, but next time I might bring some hangers with me!

"Great hotel with a fantastic staff!"
Though on the higher end of the scale, you get what you pay for, and with Sofitel Marseille Vieux Port you definitely get your money's worth! The facilities are all up to date and in perfect condition. The room size was good, and we had one with a balcony and port view, definitely a big plus. Besides being physically great, the hotel staff couldn't have been better. Professional, polite and personable, they never let us down. A special thanks to concierge Djamila who really helped us with dealing with a very difficult medical situation confronting my wife. The hotel is about a ten to fifteen minute walk down to the majority of restaurants and the old section of Marseille, but it has a great location overlooking the port and some walking is what makes travel even more enjoyable. In short, if in your budget, you'll definitely be pleased with booking a stay at this fine hotel.

"Nice hotel close to the Old Port"
Stayed here for a couple of nights in September. All we wanted was somewhere to sleep and the large room was very good indeed - double bed, sofa bed, kitchenette with hob, fridge, microwave, kettle and coffee maker. Could have done with a few more glasses. Bathroom had bath with shower over and again was ample size. Everything was clean and we were required to make sure all the kitchen items were cleaned and put away and we also had to put the rubbish outside at the end of our stay. Towels and bedding were provided and all were clean. Our room was on the 5th floor but there is a lift so that was not a problem. The premises seemed secure with your room keycard being used to open the main entrance door out of hours. The apartments are on a fairly quite street and are just one street away from the port and ideally located for visiting this interesting city. The traffic in the city is very busy and I would certainly not recommend having a car as you will struggle to find anywhere to park - far quicker to walk around and use the buses, tram or metro. Our son lives in Marseille and we will certainly stay here again on our next visit. Recommended if you prefer an apartment rather than hotel.

"A few hiccups, but overall a pleasant stay"
This is a pleasant 4 star hotel. I was given one room, and then moved to another, due to a mix up at reception, which was annoying. I also think that pre-booked (Expedia etc) guests are given inside, end of corridor rooms, as I had hoped for a "room with a view" and stated this on my preferences. Staff were polite, and the restaurant was convenient.

"Pleasant place to stay in Marseille"
Clean room, comfortable queen-sized bed, stocked mini-bar, friendly service, spacious well-designed bathroom. Great location if you want to be in a safe and scenic part of town close to the Corniche Kennedy, requires a bit of walking uphill and if you're approaching on foot from the Corniche. Alternately, if you have a lot of luggage or have any physical issues, come by car or taxi. We booked this place because it's a short walk from Vallon des Auffes and we had reservations at Chez Fonfon (bouillabaisse !!). Service was great, they called me the morning of my reservation and notified me about a technical problem (heating) in advance and offered me some alternatives. Since it wasn't very cold even in November, thanks to the Mediterranean climate, we kept the room and were not disppointed. I would happily stay here again.
