    France Hotel Guide

France charms travellers with its romantic culture woven around lace-curtained bistros, open-air cafes, and iconic landmarks.

Known for its rich history and world-class architecture and art, France is where Monet painted his beloved water lilies, kings ruled from Versailles, Romans built impressive aqueducts, and a man named Eiffel built one of the world's most famous towers. Exploring the palaces and castles that dot the country from Paris to the Loire Valley lets visitors imagine a glorious past and the lives of royalty. The Haussmann mansions of the capital evoke a more elegant period of 19th-century elites, and the spirit of Celtic invaders is still alive and well in Brittany. France hotel packages give you access to all these locations and more.

Many travellers are also wooed by the French feast, and gastronomic France is more than just flaky croissants from the neighbourhood boulangerie or long lunches in the Luxembourg Gardens. You can stuff yourself with petits fours in Paris, sip wine in Bordeaux with top sommeliers, indulge in freshly caught oysters on the Atlantic coast, harvest cherries and peaches in the sunny south, and sample champagne in the historic cellars of Reims. Through each of these experiences, visitors quickly learn that food is part of the French art of living. Book a cheap France hotel deal so you have more to spend on fois gras, Nutella-filled crepes, and escargot!

The lyrical landscape of the country is startlingly varied, from the cliffs and sand dunes of the north to the bright azure sea of the Riviera and the verdant forests of Corsica. Wave-rippled sand surrounds the former monastery of Mont St-Michel, glacial panoramas surround the mountains of Chamonix, skiers flock to the Alps, and surfers fill rooms in Biarritz. Between these destinations lay restored farm houses, glorious country scenery, and charming villages waiting to be discovered.

    When to Go

There is never a bad time to be in the country, but the prices of France hotels are highest during the peak season of July and August. If you plan on travelling at that time, reservations are definitely recommended, especially at the best hotels in France.

Outside the peak season, you can find many cheap hotel deals in France that drastically cut rates. In September and June, France hotel deals make staying in even Paris far more affordable. With the special discount, you can save for a shopping trip on the Champs Elysee or a feast at a five-star restaurant!

    "Excellent location for airport transfers"
Although it was difficult to find the hotel and desk the hotel was clean and comfortable and worked well for a night-before trip to the airport. The shuttle worked well (we used it twice). A few grocery stores are within walking distance but I'd recommend eating dinner elsewhere ahead of time.

A reasonable hotel close to the TGV station but nothing fancy. We stayed here because we were catching an early train and if you are in this position this hotel is a reasonable option. However, I wouldn't stay here if I wasn't catching an early train. The bed was comfortable and we got a good nights sleep.

"Smack in the middle of Avignon, parking offsite"
After a terrible driving experience in the tiny TINY maze-like streets of Avignon, we found the hotel. It is right in the middle of Avignon and well located if you want to stay within the city walls. The Palais du Papes is two minutes walking distance, and the city center is just outside the hotel entrance. BUT, parking is offsite, which we didn't know, and an additional fee, which we also didn't know. This was an unpleasant surprise. Our first room smelled like old cigarettes and mold. The staff changed our room, so the second room only smelled little moldy, but the building is old in an ancient city, sooooo a scented candle and the fan helped. The room was clean, quiet, and large (by European standards). Our room faced a quiet side street, and we heard church bells until early evening, which was nice. There was an old church right outside the window, which was pretty to look at. The next time we go to Avignon, we will stay at a hotel outside the city walls, which have easy to access, have easier parking, and the walk into the city is about five-ten minutes, very close and easy access. The hotel overall was ok. For a REAL treat, go to the restaurant right next to the Plais du Papes, Christian Etienne. It is incredible. The location can't be beat, but beyond that, the food is AMAZING and innovative. Overall, Avignon can be seen and enjoyed in about a day or two.
