“In the Heart of Nice”
The hotel was very clean, bright, helpful front desk, and most important, in prime location. Walk two minutes to the sea, two minutes to the flower market and Vielle Nice, a view of Place Massena, and remarkably quiet for all that.
“Good hotel at a reasonable price in a great location”
Stayed here for a romatic valentine's weekend with my husband. I had previously stayed at the grand Le Meridien hotel opposite and can safely say that Albert Premier was extremely good value for money as it cost much less and was not that inferior to Le Meridien. It was also in the same central location that is close to markets, restaurant, the ocean, tourist hot spots. As it happened, the weekend we were there was also the weekend of the carnival and again, Albert's location was extremely prime as the parade ran through the street outside the hotel. There were several theme park equipment setup in the public gardens just outside for the carnival and the Albert offered premium views of these as well as the sea. Would I stay here again? Absolutely yes - for the price and the location.
“Great place”
Great hotel in an excellent location. The beach, promande and nightlife are all 2 minutes away. The view from our room was magnifcent. We were overlooking the park and the sea. I couldn't tell you about breakfast because I didnt pay for 12 Euro for it.
“Great Location”
The hotel has a great location. It is close to shopping, restaurants, Old Nice, and the casino. Breakfast is available but it seemed steep. Therefore, we ate out. The most economical way is to get food from a grocery store or a bakery. A petit dejeuner (small breakfast - bread and juice) will set you back 8E. The park across the road is a nice spot to picnic and relax. It also has a few concerts. Do not exchange money at the hotel, as the bank exchange rate is much better and is located two blocks away. I found it preferable to use ATM machines. They are in abundance and give good rates. The hotel is a good hike from the train station. If you are traveling heavy, then you may want to take a cab or bus.
“Perfect location & good hotel”
I was travelling with my friends. And we booked 2 rooms in this hotel . We were very happy with choice ! LOCATION - It is in perfect location - its near the beach (1 minute away ! ), Promenade des Anglais , all restaurants and clubs, main shopping street ,bus to the airport, bus to Cannes and Monaco is also around 2 minutes away (Cost 1 euro one way ). So its very close to everything . we didnt need to take any transport as everything was within walking distance . ROOM -its simple but clean and in good condition , there is no noice from the street at night so you can have a good sleep. Worth taking a sea view room as its a lovely room. Basically I can not say anything bad about this hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. So if you looking for something simple , not too expensive and in perfect location I would recommend this hotel. For people who want something posh - I suggest look for something else.
“Good value for the money”
It's located a block away from Promenade Anglais and maybe a couple blocks from the old town - a perfect location. The front desk staff was helpful and spoke English. It's not a great, luxury hotel, but it was more than adequate. We had a balcony with a table etc overlooking the park. The bathroom was great, good shower, not a thing I take for granted anymore. I'd stay there again.
“Good Location”
This hotel is hard to reach on foot from the train station unless you take a taxi or bus due to the contruction on the main street. But it is in a good location once you get there and is a decent value for the money.
“Perfect Location”
The best part was the location, a few blocks from everything - Cours Saleya, the Opera House, Promenade des Anglais and only a short walk from Rue Massena and the shops. I went in the off season (Thanksgiving) and got an excellent price through Expedia, paying in dollars ahead of time which turned out to be a good move. The staff were friendly and helpful and I was able to check in immediately even though it was a couple of hours before the official time. The hotel is not fancy, but the room was fine, although the beds were not terribly comfortable and new mattresses or at least new and better fitting pads would help. I didn't try the breakfast since there were so many little bakeries and cafes nearby.
“A stale property in a great location”
The Albert 1'er is in serious need of some renovation. Our rooms were clean but a bit threadbare, beds were just adequate, but bathrooms were OK. The corridors are absolutely foul-smelling and rooms have a bit of mildew too - everything could use freshening up. However, the desk staff were helpful and the location is outstanding. The hotel is just steps from the city park, beaches, the old city, and the Casino Ruhl, and has some wonderful views of all these. Aviod breakfast at the hotel - it's a poor value, and for less you can eat breakfast at one of the pleasant seaside cafes across the park.
“Superb location overlooking the sea, an old fashioned hotel with character !”
Though a bit pricey, (we stayed during Cannes FF and Monaco GP week) we found the hotel very comfortable. We did arrive with some trepidation based on previous other reviews, but were pleasantly surprised ! Our room (411) had been recently repainted. The hotel is old, the passenger lift is amazing, but clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was adequate and the restaurant never overcrowded.
