The Beach Retreat & Lodge at Tahoe - South Lake Tahoe Hotels
Rating: 2.5 Stars

The Beach Retreat & Lodge at Tahoe

3411 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe - Map
Hotel was great for families! Water activities on premise, decent restaurants and bars. The pool hosted family movies on Friday & Saturday night and the beach was shallow and safe. The only downfall was the rooms were a little small and the sleeping configurations were double beds (not queen) or king.

"Beautiful hotel"
The hotel was exquisite in every way. The rooms were beautifully appointed with a luxurious bath and a great view of the lake from our patio. Conveniently located directly across the road from Lake Tahoe yet a short walk to the golf course, concert venue, and casinos. Commentary use of bikes. Champagne and water upon check in were nice touches. Will definitely return the next time I am in the region

"Decent option in an overpriced area"
This hotel definitely met my basic requirements, which are to be clean at a minimum, and close to whatever I'm in that area to experience. Stateline has a lot of options, many of which are these small boutiques. I don't think this one is particularly excellent compared to the others, but neither is it worse. The rooms are decent, furnished in an out of date style but with good quality and well kept trimmings. Breakfast was supposed to be 8:30-10 but was cleaned out by 9 and was never re-stocked. Parking is tough and will be impossible if you have a larger truck or a trailer of any kind.

This property is showing its age, yet the room rate is creeping up. You're paying for the convenience of staying in between the casinos and the shops/restaurants of Marriott/Heavenly.

"Nice hotel/ close to stateline and concert "
The check in process continues to be a problem at this hotel. Extremely long line and slow moving. Try to check in early to avoid this. Also my reservation was for a superior double with lake view but I was placed on the first floor so view was of the parking lot. Could not see the lake. Due to long line to check in did not go back to desk to ask about a higher floor. Also the lights over vanity in bathroom did not work. When I mentioned this to housekeeping they told me " yeah some of the rooms are like that". Also this is 2nd time at this hotel and the in room check out has never worked. Very frustrating. On a bright note I mentioned all my complaints to front desk staff on check out and was given a reduced rate for a August stay I have booked. Also they said they would let maintenance know of the room concerns. The Staff are nice and casino is great. They still need to work out some bugs here but overall not a bad stay.

"OK but a bit pricey"
Hotel was nice with large room and working microwave, refrigerator, flat screen tv and working wifi. Some rooms face freeway and unless the window is closed there will be traffic noise all night. Must have caught a popular time since price for room seemed a bit steep even for this area. Breakfast was OK but nothing special. Coffee is available 24 hours and staff is always available. This would be a great stop if room prices were reduced a bit.

"Interesting motel"
From the outside, this motel does not look like much. The large sign out front doesn't even have the right name. It is a little disappointing as you drive up. That said, the room and bathroom were very nice and clean. The beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable. It was equipped with a microwave and refrigerator as well. There was a wall fireplace, which I guess would be nice in the winter, but we did not use it since it was 85 degrees outside. The only downside was that there was no air conditioning in the room. They supplied us with a fan, which we put in the window once it cooled down outside. When we returned after dinner, we found that the radiator was on and blowing hot air into the room, though the thermostat on the wall was off. I called the after hours assistance phone number and left a voicemail. A very kind handyman came quickly, was very apologetic for my having to leave a voicemail, and turned off the radiator. It was an uneventful stay after that and that was good. It remained relatively quiet the rest of the night, and our room was cool enough to get a good night's sleep.
