“Convenient location for tourists.”
Close enough to plazas (great place to walk off delicious breakfasts and dinners. Too bad wi-fi not available on all floors, but overall enjoyed the room and our 8 day stay.
“Centrally located”
Very covenient for downtown activities(Cathedral, plazas, theater, museums)
“excellent vacation to Guadalajara, Hotel Fenix is superb!”
Hotel location is very convenient to everything like sightseeings, restaurants, churches, shopping, etc. Hotel itself is very affordable, housekeeping is excellent w/ daily clean towels and beddings surprisingly). Only there are no chairs in the room and hotel clerks do not speak English.
“Trouble... but worth it if you like it....”
Besides the problem at check in time, the hotel advertises a restaurant and room service...be advised that there is no restaurant but only a breakfast buffet until noon everyday, and of course there is no room service available. My reservation included a free breakfast for every day of my stay, well they claimed it not to be true and I had to fight for my breakfast coupons, to their credit they finally conceded that and I got my free breakfast. There was also a problem with the parking lot in which they charge 80 pesos per night for hotel guests. The problem is that you do not know this until check out time. I never had to pay for parking in a hotel while being a guest of the same. So I had to pay a total of 400 pesos for my stay. Besides all that, my stay was great!..excellent location anf the best beds in Guadalajara by far. Close to all the main attractions of the old and historic downtown area. I would gladly go back to this hotel.
“Definitely not impressed”
The ads for this hotel that bills itself as a 3-star hotel are deceiving. While the rooms look quite acceptable in the ads, in reality, they are minimal accommodations, with just the very basic amenities and cleanliness. In addition, we were placed on the 11th floor in a rear-of-the-building room that was the noisiest room we've ever been in (street noise-sirens, ambulances, etc.). Impossible to get a good night's sleep!
“Up all night at Fenix.”
First night we were given a room that had an awful smell that was comparable to humidity and bad mold coming from drain. Could not sleep in room from that. Smell made me sick. Room was hot and had to ask front desk for cold air every day. Staff at front desk was not very nice. Changed room that faced busy street. Next door there was a table dancing club that had music on so loud throughout the night.
