“Less than expected”
The rooms given to us were smaller than expected. I think they could have given us bigger rooms. Other than the size of the rooms, the service was very good. Rooms were clean. Location was desirable. I would recommend this hotel.
“Florentine grandeur at its finest”
The Grand Hotel Baglioni has style in abundance. From the moment you enter the door you can tell you're in for a fine time. Situated close to Santa Maria Novella Station it may initially appear to be on the edge of the hurly burly of Florence but in real terms the location is ideal. Ten minutes stroll to the Duomo or San Lorenzo and only fifteen minutes to the Ponte Vecchio or Uffizi. The Pitti Palace or Santa Croce might look like a bit of a hike but Florence is easy to navigate on foot. The hotel itself is very traditional and it's easy to imagine returning after 20 years and finding little changed. The impeccably dressed staff are superb and nothing is too much trouble - happy to book the main attractions and taxis for the sightseer. Two lifts serve the five floors and for a hotel with 190+ rooms we never found ourselves waiting more than a few minutes. We had a 'superior room' (with the largest bed I have ever seen) and a stunning view of Santa Maria Novella Church. The room was huge with an immaculate en-suite, linen changed daily and good effective air con. Without a doubt the star in the Baglioni's crown is the roof terrace. Meals or drinks whilst looking out over Florence's rooftops are divine and because parts of the terrace are raised it is truly 360 degrees. Absolutely superb and heartily recommended.
“Great place to stay in Florence!”
I travel a lot and I have picked up this hotel after seeing a virtual tour and reading other visitors' reviews. And I have to confess that was the ONLY hotel on our recent trip to Italy that 100% corresponded with the pictures and description! Our room was beautiful! Pleasant surprise just because hotel rooms in other cities were too far from what you order based on photos/descriptions. The hotel staff is extremely polite and helpful...Though the breakfast service should be improved for sure!
“Wonderful Experience”
Grand Hotel Baglioni is VERY close to the train station. You just have to walk through the tunnel from the train station and when you exit...it's right there. It was very convenient considering we traveled by train for the entire trip through Switzerland and Italy. The hotel was nice, the staff was friendly, and most everyone spoke English so communication was easy.Shopping and sightseeing was within walking distance, but its worth taking a tour to see more of Florence...the places you can't quickly get to on foot. The concierge helped us make reservations on one of the tours. It may not be the cheapest place in town but it was a wonderful experience!
“Tres bel hôtel avec une décoration d'origine”
Hôtel très chaleureux proposant de très belles prestations. Décoration d'origine avec des plafond en bois, fresques dans les espaces communs....personnel très prévenant
“Luxury and great location”
Stayed at the GHB from May 28 to June 3, 2007. Great location steps from the train station. Save yourself the challenge of negotiating the traffic circle in front of the station and make your way to the underground pedestrian walkway. There are 2 exits - the 2nd, steps form the hotel, is a ramp perfect for those with wheeled luggage. Hotel is beautifully appointed and rooms are surprisingly spacious. All kinds of useful info - like local weather - on your in-room satellite TV. Breakfast is very good and the rooftop dining room with panoramic views of the city. Concierge is very helpful. But if you plan to use the lobby internet be aware that you'll be charged per connection - NOT per hour as you might expect. The process is a bit cumebrsome as well. You have to tell the desk which has to open the IP connection at theri end. Thbey will log your start time and youn must report when you are done. A bit clunky considering.
“can't wait to go back”
would definitly stay there if we go back
“Lovely Hotel with period feel”
We loved our room which was on the 4th floor. Solid wood floors and a massive bed. We had views over the rooftops towards the Duomo and into a courtyard below which was covered in Bougainvillea - the lovely smell was overwhelming. Breakfast in the 5th floor restaurant with views accross the city was an experience in itself and we rated it as our favourite ever breakfast location. Breakfast itself was slightly disappointing as the fruit was tinned and the bacon fatty but there was plenty and this was just a minor whinge.
“great accomodations”
close to train station. friendly, helpful staff. best place we stayed in europe.
