Top 10 Water Attractions in Las Vegas
Ready to make a splash in Vegas? Thanks to the sunshine and high temperatures of Las Vegas, one of the most refreshing ways to spend your time in the city is by checking out some of the various water attractions. Most hotels and resorts offer at least one traditional swimming pool where you can make a splash, swim some laps, or enjoy a cocktail with friends, but there are also some even more exciting attractions to explore that take summer fun to a whole new level. Here are the top 10 water attractions in Las Vegas, which range from slides to water parks and even man-made beaches.
Wet’n’Wild Las Vegas
As the largest water park in the state of Nevada, Wet’n’Wild Las Vegas recently underwent a reopening after nearly a decade of closed doors. Along with traditional water park favourites like racing slides, wave pools and lazy rivers, the park boasts some adventurous attractions best left for the serious thrill seekers. The Tornado, one of the most popular rides, starts by climbing 36 feet to the top of a platform, barrelling down a tunnel and then meeting the elements designed to recreate the intensity of an actual tornado. Not for the faint of heart, these thrill rides are an incredible way to spend a hot day in Las Vegas.
Hollywood Indoor Pool and Outdoor Water Park
To get away from the crowds and enjoy budget-friendly prices, the Hollywood Indoor Pool and Outdoor Water Park can be a great alternative. When the weather is nice, head outside for slides and the lazy river. If it is raining, or you want to fit in a good workout, the indoor water park and lap pools are also available.
Mandalay Beach
Las Vegas might be hours from an actual ocean, but the Mandalay Beach can make you forget that entirely. This man-made beach uses real sand on more than 11 acres of property at the Mandalay Bay to make you feel like you are right on the Pacific Coast. The 1.6 million gallon wave pool creates the sound of crashing waves, but there is also plenty of excitement to enjoy. The waterfront casino, cabanas, and beach bars are some of the fun ways to spend a day at the Mandalay Beach.
Pool at the Mirage
Although many of the pools and water-based attractions in Las Vegas close down for the winter, the Mirage is open for most of the year thanks to temperature-controlled water always suitable for the outside climate. The pool itself is surrounded by lush palm trees and greenery, creating a kind of oasis in the heart of Sin City. You can swim a full half-mile lap if you desire, or you can kick back at the lagoon, underneath a waterfall or in one of the luxury cabanas that line the pool’s edge.
Party by the Pool
Las Vegas is known for its nightlife and hot temperatures, so it shouldn’t really come as a surprise to learn that the city has perfected the art of the pool party. At places like Rehab at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino or the Encore Beach Club at the Wynn Las Vegas, thousands of people gather during the summer to drink, dance, listen to DJs, and make the most of the sunshine.
Go Pool
Found in the Flamingo Hotel, Go Pool is a 15-acre oasis in the heart of the Strip. The space is dominated by trees and flowers, and the edge of the pool is lined with luxury daybeds. Although the Flamingo has a family-friendly pool just a short walk away, Go Pool is the preferred destination for adults, many of whom come for the resident DJs, stunning waterfalls, dancers, and VIP cabanas available for the afternoon or the entire day.
The Tank
Located in the Golden Nugget Casino, one of the iconic landmarks in Las Vegas, is the water attraction known as The Tank. This swimming pool is built around an enormous saltwater aquarium, which means you can see the tank’s sea animals while you float, swim, or just admire from the water’s edge. There is even a three-story slide that sends you flying between the tank, making it feel like you are right among the sharks, fish, and underwater marine life.
Cowabunga Bay Las Vegas
Although the name includes Las Vegas, this family-friendly water park is actually a few minutes outside of the city in Henderson, Nevada. The decor of the park is a little unusual, thanks to a 1950s retro theme, but it is a wholesome change from the glitz and glamour of the Vegas Strip. A highlight for visitors is Wild Surf, which is a seriously thrilling raft ride where you will barrel down an enclosed tube and then crash into the world’s largest man-made wave. If something a little calmer is your cup of tea, try the lazy river or the wave pool to cool off instead.
Bellagio Fountains
One of the most iconic images of Las Vegas is the fountain display outside of the Bellagio. Right along the centre of the Las Vegas Strip, the Bellagio fountains go off at regular intervals throughout the day. The jets of water are timed with the music, creating a spectacular performance. Seeing it by day is fantastic, but the lights at night add an extra element to the show. If you stand close, be prepared to be splashed!
Gondola Rides
Las Vegas may not have the culture and history of Venice, but it does have traditional gondola rides along stunning man-made canals. The Italian themed Venetian on the Strip has recreated the canals of Venice, and visitors can climb into an actual Italian gondola boat, steered by an authentic, singing gondolier, for a romantic ride that won’t soon be forgotten. You won’t get wet at this water attraction, but it is a refreshing change of pace from the bustle of Las Vegas.
Las Vegas is a hot destination, but keeping cool is easy thanks to these 10 water attractions located in and around the city.
