7 ‘Off the Strip’ Day Trips Around Vegas
Las Vegas is full of lights, glamour and action. Despite the city being full of adventure, not all of the action happens on the strip.
There are lots of fun and exciting activities to do ‘off the strip’ – enough to make you leave the crowds and bustle behind in order to experience more of this great city.
When planning your next vacation to the desert oasis, here are the best ‘off the strip’ activities you should try:
- Rent a Dune Buggy
Take an off road adventure through the desert that surrounds Vegas on a dune buggy! Over at SunBuggy Fun Rentals you can rent a dune buggy for up to four people, so don’t be scared to make it a family adventure that you will never forget.
- Visit Lake Mead
Lake Mead is a man-made reservoir near the The Hoover Dam that is a perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Vegas. Go boating, fishing or swimming while you soak up the rays.
- Red Rock Canyon
This amazing canyon is made out of bright red sandstone. Explore the landscape on a scenic drive or walk over 30 miles of hiking trails. You can also go horseback riding, ride bikes and rock climb. Pack your lunch for an unforgettable picnic amongst the Mojave Desert.
- Barrick Museum
At the University of Nevada you will find the Marjorie Barrick Museum. In addition to the breathtaking collections of artwork there is much more to do here – take a guided tour, view a film screening or make a collage at the Art Bar.
- Ethel M Chocolates Factory
Just outside of Las Vegas, in Henderson Nevada, you will find the Ethel M Chocolates Factory. Take a self-guided tour through the factory to experience their exquisite chocolate making skills. You can also stroll through the Botanical Cactus Garden to get an up close and personal look at all of the beautiful flowering cacti.
- The Mob Museum
In downtown Las Vegas you will find The Mob Museum. This is a great place to see unique artifacts, films and exhibits that depict the struggle between law enforcement and the mob. The museum will help you discover all the facts you will ever need to know about the mob and is both an educational and fun experience!
- Indoor Go Kart Racing
Get out of the heat and seek some thrills at Pole Position. At this indoor go-kart race track you can strap on your seatbelt and put pedal to the metal as you race around the track pushing for first place.
The next time you visit Las Vegas, remember that there is life off of the strip. While I touched on just a few, other worthy and notable mentions include Freemont Street and more.
Spread your wings and explore all that the Las Vegas vicinity offers!
