What you can expect

The adventure starts at our bike den in Visaginas where you will be given a safety briefing and assigned all the necessary equipment. After picking up your very own fat bike, head off towards the Iganlina Nuclear Power Plant.

The route runs along a residential area filled with the dacha-style houses famous in this area. Get a sneak peak at how locals in this area live and explore hidden forrest landscapes.

Once at Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant, explore some sites where parts of the Chernobyl series was filmed and learn the history and legacy of this power plant. Very similar in construction to the Chernobyl plant, but more powerful, this plant was closed upon Lithuania's accession to the EU in 2009. Located on Drūkšiai lake, this area spans two countries: Belarus and Lithuania.

Half-way through the tour, enjoy a short break and a cup of tea in the industrial surroundings. Hear the history of the plant, its present-day situation, and what life was like for the engineers assigned to this plant. Depending on the time of day and day of the week, there may be an opportunity to come and have a bite in the plant's canteen or visit an info centre inside the plant. In this case, those interested may do so for an extra fee.
