Get out of the city for a day to discover its world-renowned attractions, from hiking trails and waterfalls to museums and Canadian style eateries. Located on the northern tip of a fjord roughly an hour North West of Vancouver sits the community of Squamish, a charming town nestled among snow-capped mountains.
Your day begins with convenient pick-up from your central Vancouver hotel. With your expert behind the wheel, you wind your way north along the Sea-to-Sky Highway, the route offering stunning views of Spectacular Howe Sound.
After arriving in Squamish, your first stop is the Famous Britannia Beach Gold and copper mine this mine was the pioneer in the mining industry and established the techniques used in mining today, our second destination is the amazing Shannon Falls, the third-highest waterfall in BC. Take in views of water cascading from the height of 1,099 feet (335 m) as you guide takes you on a nature walk and explains the significance of the falls to the region's First Nations people.
Next venue on the tour is the brand new Sea-to-Sky Gondola for a ride up to the summit overlooking Stawamus Chief. Grab your camera to snap breath-taking photos of the surrounding Garibaldi and Tantalus mountain ranges and beautiful Howe Sound below. If you're feeling especially adventurous, cross the Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge, a wire roped walkway leading you through an evergreen canopy hundreds of feet above ground, this area joins up with walking paths to the Panorama viewing area 15-20 min walk.
Your day continues with a visit to the West Coast Railway Heritage museum, The home of the famous royal hudson steam train and the rich history of Canadian pioneer railways and get an up-close look at vintage railway cars from the 1920,s. Finish your day with great Canadian cuisine and a pint of award-winning beer at Howe Sound Brewing and eatery before heading back to Vancouver.
