What you can expect
One of the most photographed buildings in the world, Neuschwanstein Castle balances majestically on its rugged hill, looking like a fairy tale come to life. Beat the long visitor queues, take a glimpse at the private chambers and marvel at splendid views, all the while accompanied by an expert guide.
Meet your guide at Munich central station and start your journey. High above the medieval roofs stands an incredible sight: the almost-magical turrets of the former refuge of Bavaria's King Ludwig II. This graceful structure is possibly the best-known castle on the planet. It is even said to have inspired the castle of Disney's Sleeping Beauty.
Your guide walks with you uphill to the castle's lofty perch. Roam the surrounding landscapes, where jaw-dropping views regularly take your breath away. See the opulent Hohenschwangau Castle atop a neighbouring hill, behind a gorge complete with a plunging waterfall and spanned by a bridge – a truly mesmerising sight.
Opt for an internal tour of Neuschwanstein to skip the long lines and hear about the often turbulent reign of Ludwig II as you wander through elegant halls and intimate private chambers.
