Salkantay and Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 7 days is amazing and offers tourists a mix of Salkantay trek and the Classic Inca trail tours, combining the best of our two most popular expeditions. Starting on the Salkantay trail that goes through Incachiriaska Pass or Frozen Inca’s Pass.

This path joins with original paved Inca pathways, a variety of fascinating Inca ruins, beautiful sceneries and continue on to Machu Picchu. With smaller groups you get the full attention of our staff and with each trekker having a personal porter to carry your personal gear so that you can enjoy the trek to the full.

Day 1: Cusco - Challacancha - Soraypampa

The Tour Guide will pick you up by bus from your hotel, we take bus about 2 hours to Mollepata stopping village for breakfast. After breakfast continue by bus to Challacancha, then start hiking to the base camp Soraypampa, where you have lunch, after climb up to Humantay lake.
Day 2: Soraypampa – Pampa Japonesa – Sisay Pampa

After breakfast climb up for 4 hrs to Pampa Japonesa the lunch spot which is right before to arrive the highest point of our trek Dead Inca’s Pass, then you have 1 hour to get the summit, in order to descend to campsite Sisay Pampa the coldest night of this adventure trek
Day 3: Sisay Pampa – Paucarcancha

Today the views will be spectacular, after conquering the summit you will feel completely positive and you can get a sense of why? The Incas worshipped Salkantay mountain. Since this campsite to the next campsite and lunch place is downhill hike, where you hike 6 hours in total to Paucar Cancha which is connecting to the Classic Inca Trail.
Day 4: Paucarcancha – Huayllabamba - Llulluchapampa

Free morning to visit Paucar Cancha Inca site, after lunch we’ll make our way down the valley to join the Inca Trail at Wayllabamba village, since this village we’ll switch from using mules to carry our gear to porters this is to prevent damage to the Inca Trail. The campsite for tonight is at Llulluchapampa 3800m / 12460 ft. which is the closest campsite to Dead Woman’s Pass. Climbing up to campsite we’ll pass through various microclimates and it is the second coldest campsite.
Day 5: Llulluchapampa – Dead Woman’s Pass – Chaquicocha

After fresh Organic breakfast, we have to make our way over 2 passes fortunately, camped quite close to the first so it’s not as hard as for most Inca Caravans who camped in the valley far below. The landscapes today is amazing, the high mountain ranges, 2 Inca sites “Runkurakay and Sayacmarca”. See a variety of plants and fauna, as you are now arriving to the area known as the cloud forest. The campsite tonight is at Chaquicocha 3600m / 11800 ft, which is one of the quieter campsite and affords beautiful views of the sun setting over the mountains in the distance.
Day 6: Chaquicocha – Phuyupatamarca – Wiñay Wayna

Start early to hike to the last Summit of Phuyupatamarca. The best area to enjoy the flora and fauna of this trail. Our lunch spot will be after 3 hours downhill hike by means of many Inca steps. Phuyupatamarca and Intipata sites chance to explore and see every single detail about these ruins. After lunch take a longer nap to have an extra 10 minutes to walk to the most amazing site of the trail Winay Wayna. Tonight a small ceremony to tell thanks your amazing porters and the last time that you see them.
Day 7: Wiñay Wayna – Machu Picchu – Cusco

The highlight of the expedition where we head straight to the checkpoint to enter Machu Picchu. Once the site opens you carry on to the Sun Gate, where you have the first fantastic view of Machu Picchu. On arrival to the citadel you’ll have a 2 hour guided tour to visit important temples of the citadel. After tour you have free time to explore the site by yourself. In the afternoon you will take the train back to Ollantaytambo where you will carry on by bus back to Cusco city.
