Loire Valley Castles & Wine Tasting Full-Day Trip

by City Wonders Duration 13h Free cancellation available No booking or credit card fees
per adult Price is C$254

Journey into the stunning French countryside and escape the bustle of Paris on this tour to the Loire Valley. Explore three of the famous fairy tale-like castles in the region as you enjoy delicious wine-tastings along the way. See how wine is produced and sample plenty of the white and reds on offer.

Your first stop on the tour is Chateau de Chambord, which you may recognise as the inspiration behind the castle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. The castle is enormous and breathtaking in its extravagance, with spectacular architecture, luxurious furnishings and wild gardens with resident deer and boars.

The next stop is Chateau de Nitray, a family-run castle completely different in atmosphere. Here, sit down to a hearty lunch of authentic rural dishes and sip a crisp Sauvignon blanc or savour a full-bodied Cabernet rouge. Meander through the vineyards and learn about the tradition of wine growing in this region.

Finish your exploration of the Loire Valley with a visit to the Chateau de Chenonceau (Ladies' Chateau). This elegant 16th-century castle is picture perfect, with its smooth, white façade and intricately painted wooden doors. Explore the beautiful interior with its original stone carvings, immense tapestries and intimate chapel.

Stroll through the stunning gardens and soak up the serene atmosphere before your relaxing journey back to Paris.

This was the worst trip we've ever had. First, even though the description said " a small group of 25 people or less" they packed 49 people in one bus, which broke down after about 2 hrs of driving. They dropped us in the middle of nowhere at a gas station, where they kept the whole group for 4!!! hours without even providing people with water (not saying about food or drinks). The only thing we heard from the guides for 3,5 hrs "another buss is coming from Paris" ( distance from Paris was around 160 km and it would've taken less than 2 hrs to get us, but....) Finally, after we were told the busses were about 2 minutes away people lined up and again waited for another 40 minutes. Some people started to call police as we could not get any information at all. At the end, we decided to go back to Paris without even having seen any castles at all, nor having a promised lunch. The way City Wonders handled the situation is absolutely unacceptable. Not taking another chance with them ever!

Michelle and Rene did a wonderful job, their discussion of history was excellent and theatrical. I would advise anyone to take this tour
