The Rumeli Fortress, located in the Sariyer District of Istanbul, was constructed by Fatih Sultan Mehmet in 1452 with the aim of preventing aid from reaching the city from the north of the Bosphorus and defending it during a siege. Erected in just four months, the fortress is located directly across from the Anadolu Fortress, covering an area of 30 decares and featuring three large towers and walls, four main gates, and a secondary gate known as the Cemetery Gate. Additionally, the fortress has a total of four towers and a museum garden displaying cannons, roses, terracotta, stone works, and a portion of the chain that supposedly sealed off the Golden Horn.
