Immerse yourself in the literary world of L.M. Montgomery’s beloved Anne of Green Gables as you visit the bucolic farmstead that inspired the book’s setting, soak up the maritime atmosphere of coastal fishing villages, and shop for locally made wares at the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company.

Set out along Prince Edward Island’s North Shore for a tour of the area’s charming fishing villages and sweeping seaside scenery. Admire the miles of sand dunes and red sandstone cliffs at Cavendish Beach; stop to snap photos of colourful, barn-like boathouses backed by pastoral, rolling hills; and take in ocean vistas at lighthouses of all-shapes-and-sizes that dot the shoreline.

Be charmed by the country appeal of the Green Gables House: here, you can stroll the Haunted Woods and Balsam Hollow Trails, as well as walk through the house of the red-haired orphan girl that has captured readers’ hearts for more than a century. Learn about L.M. Montgomery’s important role in Canada’s literary history and see locations from the books, including Anne’s bedroom.

Continue on to the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company in New Glasgow. Located in a former butter factory, this shop produces and sells marmalades, jams, honeys, syrups, sauces, seasonings, teas and more. Shop for handmade crafts, gifts and souvenirs before your return trip to Charlottetown.

Visiting PEI for the second time minus kids, we wanted to hear the information provided in a guided tour. Unfortunately 4 cruise ships docked that day and many bus tours but thankfully we had made reservations in advance. Despite the chaos of all the people it was a smooth process for finding our tour. We had an excellent tour guide - Mitch Cormier (also works for CBC radio in PEI). He gave an informative, interesting, entertaining and well articulated tour. Many trivia items were presented and stories from his career as a radio news reporter. As a Canadian I was pleased that he provided teachable moments for the visitors from other countries of the cost of living, health care, agriculture and fisheries. All questions were addressed in a respectful, informative and personable manner. I would highly recommend taking any tour guided by Mitch. He stayed on time and was very conscientious of the time restriction of those with a docking return

We really enjoyed our morning with Maua Lee. She was personable and very informative--an excellent tour guide. The red cliffs of Cavendish Beach were an unexpected bonus! I wish we had a little more time at Anne's house as opposed to going to the jam/preserves stop.
