Description

There’s nothing quite like gliding over sparkling snow in a horse-drawn sleigh - especially when you’re surrounded by snow covered mountains in the Canadian Rockies. Take in the area's stunning mountain peaks on a charming horse-driven sleigh ride through the snow-covered meadows of Banff.

Start just outside of central Banff at Warner Stables, where your cowboy-guide gets your majestic horses ready for a 40-minute jaunt in the brisk winter air. After taking some time to pet the horses and cosying up under a wool blanket, your friendly driver whisks you away on a 40-minute sleigh ride.

Listen to the sounds and silences of this remote area as your horses' hooves softly crunch the snow and look out for local wildlife, such as elk and deer, moving among the trees. Along the way, your guide gives insight into the natural wonders surrounding you, which include breathtaking views of Sulphur Mountain and Mount Norquay.

After your relaxing and delightful ride through this snow-white panorama, warm up with a hot drink and toast a marshmallow by the fire back at the stable.

Overall the event itself was good but, I would seriously recommend having a sleigh just for families with small children. We were at the back of the sleigh with a screaming toddler in front of us which made it very hard to hear much of what the driver had to tell us on the history of the area etc. Was a neat experience minus the screaming.

We had a great time on the sleigh ride when we got there they gave us hot drinks and wool blankets to cover ourselves. The employees were very friendly and informative about the area and the horses. You have to make sure that you dress for the weather especially some kind of scarfs to cover your face. Keep your eyes open for wildlife.
