We will meet in the morning at Calico Basin, just 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. After introductions and gearing up, we’ll take a short 15-minute hike along a scenic trail to reach the cliffs. At the cliff, we’ll spend the session climbing and learning rope systems. To start, climbers will focus on movement, balance, and discovering the joy of climbing sandstone. Following a brief training, participants will have the chance to belay each other—managing the rope systems that keep their partners safe. Throughout the session, every climber will have the opportunity to test themselves on multiple routes tailored to their ability level. The day wraps up around 4:00 PM, leaving you with plenty of time to return to Las Vegas and enjoy the satisfaction of having climbed real desert rock. All activities are led by Mike Donaldson, a certified professional climbing guide. Guiding services are conducted under the authority of officially licensed and permitted operators within Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
