What you can expect

Trek through dwarf forests in protected national parks, soak up views of active volcanoes and sparkling lakes, and unleash your inner archaeologist with visits to UNESCO-listed sights filled with remnants of past Mayan civilisations. On this guided excursion head to Cerro Verde National Park and Joya de Cerén.

Get picked up from your hotel and head out of town, towards the rugged slopes and volcanoes around Cerro Verde National Park. Hear about Izalco's nickname as the “Lighthouse of the Pacific”, stemming from its near constant eruptions. Admire views of the Santa Ana volcano and look down at Coatepque Lake from lofty vantage points.

Hike down nature trails to check out the tiny trees in a dwarf forest, pop in at the dig sites at UNESCO-listed Joya de Cerén, and learn about the Mayan artefacts and political centers uncovered at San Andrés before you catch a return ride to your hotel.
