Aurora of The Fjords departs from Odda. In the area of Odda and Tyssedal you get to see old factories that has had a major impact in Norwegian industrial history, as to the area itself. You will enjoy the majestic mountains that sorrunds the fjord and the fruit farms which the area is well known for. Sweet cherries, plums, pears but most of all apples are grown here. Apples that are refined into the (almost) world-famous cider.
When you reach Naa (Nå) we highly suggest a visit to one or several of the cider farms that are within walking distance from the pier; right up the road, you’ll find Edel Sideri. To Store Naa Siderkompani is about 10 minutes’ walk and further up the road, about 30 minutes (or 10 minutes by taxi) you’ll find Kvestad Sideri. Alde Sider is a nice 25 minutes’ walk alongside the fjord.
If you would like to enjoy a cider tasting at one of the farms it is recommended to book in advance, but you can also buy their products to enjoy later. Book at TasteHardanger.
While waiting for the boat to return to Odda you can relax at Siderhuset Ola K which is situated at the pier. Here you can get tasty food and of course a glass of cider. Or several.
On board you can enjoy audioguiding on your own phone - don't forget your headphones!
