Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa
  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
Pick up early for the 2–3 hour trip from Cairo to Alexandria. Explore the city, which the Egyptians formerly referred to as the Mediterranean Sea's pride. It was erected by Alexander the Great, who also commissioned the building of a harbour, lighthouse, and library, but Ptolemy the Second completed those projects. Learn about the only private Roman catacombs outside of Europe. These significant private Roman tombs were uncovered as a result of an Egyptian donkey slipping down the pit. This unique monument consists of a shaft encircled by a cylinder staircase that descends to two below-ground floors, one of which was intended to house the deceased's family. Learn about the depictions of Greek and Roman and Egyptian gods. The family members are depicted in a marble sculpture alongside the fiery goddess Medusa, who is shown guarding the burial chamber, the three burial stories, and the remains of the horses and people who were either murdered or buried during the reign of Caracalla.
Bibliotheca Alexandrina
  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
Learn about the history of the largest library in the East during the time of the Greeks, which housed hundreds of thousands of manuscripts. The world's greatest collections of sciences and philosophy were destroyed by the Arabs who burned the books to heat the local bath in Egypt for six months during the time of general Omr Ibn Elass and Caliph Omar Ibn El Khattab in the seventh century AD. The books were first burned by Octave in 37 BC, then once more by the Romans in fourth century. UNISCO decided to restore the Bibliotheca Alexandrina with modern architecture and technology in order to be regarded as one of the top 7 Library in the world. Find out what precious materials were imported from abroad to build the library. The Library has a meeting building, access to six hundred thousands out-of-print books online, a museum of archaeology, a museum of manuscripts, and areas for works of poets, writers, painters, and sculptors. Lunch time for 1 hour in special place
Fort Qaitbey
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
Discover the Sultan Qaitbay Fort, which was constructed over the ruins of the phare of Alexandria. The phare of Alexandria was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world built by Ptolemy the second. It was over 100 metres high, comprised of three sections in three different shapes—circular, octagonal, and square—and housed hundreds of men and their families. Day and night, a row of donkeys was loaded with wood to feed the fire that could be seen from 100 kilometres away, and ships were spotted 24 hours in advance of their arrival. Enjoy the Fort's location on the outskirts of the city, which is surrounded by the sea on almost all sides. The sultan built the monuments to fend off the threat of the ottomans, and he also put up a sign warning that anyone caught escaping the fort during the war would be punished by hanging. However, the fort failed to protect Egypt from the French expedition led by Napoleon Ponabart. 1-2 Hours Pick dream Photos. return to your Hotel in Cairo 2-3 Hours
