Description

Take a walk on Vancouver's wild side as you stand 230 feet (70 m) above the waters of the Capilano River on a breath-taking 450-foot-long (137-m) suspension bridge. Appreciate nature from 3 breath-taking perspectives at this sprawling urban park—the world-famous Capilano Suspension Bridge, the Treetops Adventure, and the thrilling Cliffwalk.

Head north of downtown and arrive at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. This 27-acre (11-ha) park was made famous by its namesake bridge, which was built back in 1889, and has been added onto with even more attractions to let you experience the temperate rainforest of beautiful British Columbia.

Start your exploration by taking a vertigo-defying walk across the Capilano Suspension Bridge, gazing down at the Capilano River and at the towering conifers and pines that flank the mountainsides. From there, test your daring on the Cliffwalk, a cantilevered walkway that hugs a granite cliff face. In some sections, open grated walkways are all that stands between your feet and the canyon below.

Next, get a squirrel's-eye view of the forest at the Treetops Adventure, 7 suspension bridges nestled among the Douglas firs at heights up to 110 feet (33.5 m) above the forest floor. Let your kids collect research data, look for signs, and record answers before returning to the Treehouse to collect their Rainforest Explorer's badge at the end of the day. Before leaving, pay a visit to Kia'palano, where you can admire totem poles and learn about the history of British Columbia's First Nations people.

The Capilano Park was awesome. The bus ride is free and the buses are very clean and modern. Our driver Brian gave us a little history on the suspension bridges on the way there. It’s definitely a must do excursion if your in the area.
