What you can expect

  • Step aboard our heated electric tour boat for a 1-hour journey through Giethoorn, the village known as the Venice of the North. With a local captain at the helm, you'll glide under wooden bridges, past thatched-roof farmhouses, and across the shallow Bovenwijde lake.

    Your captain shares the stories you won't find in guidebooks — why the village has no roads, how the canals were dug for peat centuries ago, and what daily life looks like in a community connected only by water.

    The boat is heated for colder days, with panoramic windows that open in summer, soft cushions, and ambient lighting. Captain commentary in English, Dutch, and German.
