What you can expect

You will enjoy hiking and a variety of experiences in a Japanese traditional house, surrounded by plenty of greenery.
At the hiking, a nature guide will explain the history of the town, which used to be a therapeutic bathhouse and the unique local flora and fauna.
In the Japanese traditonal house experience, you will catch ayu fish and cook it on Japanese hearth (which is called irori) for lunch. The menu consists of grilled ayu fish, white rice, Japanese pickles and other side dishes. At the house, you will work together with the local people to use Japanese style fireplace and cook the fish. And also, we will also have a general introduction to old houses and Japanese houses, such as the hearth, tokonoma (alcove) and shoji (paper sliding doors), and an explanation of the differences between a townhouse and a farmhouse.
