Description

Spend 4 days exploring the magical Australian outback around Uluru, Kata Tjuta, and Alice Springs. Sleep in private campsites and enjoy delicious meals cooked over open fires, as expert guides help you navigate this unforgettable desert landscape.

Day 1: Ayers Rock

Get picked up from Ayers Rock Airport in the early afternoon, and drive into Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Choose to ride a camel at Yulara, discovering what life is like on board one of the region's earliest forms of transport. Arrive at Uluru and embark on an interpretive walk around the base. Uluru is considered a sacred site by the Anangu people, and they ask visitors to respect their law by not climbing it.

Visit the Cultural Center, a great place to learn about the history of the area, before watching the constantly shifting light of the setting sun play over Uluru at sunset. Eat dinner cooked over an open fire, enjoy a few camp fire stories and the view of the stars before getting a good night's rest at a private campsite.

Day 2: Ayers Rock to Kata Tjuta National Park

Wake up to witness a mesmerising Uluru sunrise, taking advantage of the magical quality of morning light in the desert. Take a short drive to Kata Tjuta, an aboriginal word for “many heads.” Explore some of its 36 domes before strapping on your boots and walking through the Valley of the Winds, including a variety of creek beds and desert scenery.

After lunch, say farewell to the national park and travel to Kings Creek Station to spend the night in a private camp.

Day 3: Kata Tjuta National Park to Alice Springs

Enter the Watarrka National Park, home of a soaring red-rock chasm situated above lush palm forests. Walk around the rim of the canyon to visit the Amphitheatre, Lost City, and the Garden of Eden. Eat lunch and make your way to the outback town of Alice Springs, arriving in the early evening. After days in the wilderness, the town will feel like the big city.

Visit Anzac Hill to get a panoramic view of the oasis in the desert. As the sun goes down, eat your last dinner with your group and check in to a hostel. Get the chance to wash off your dusty clothes before experiencing the night-life of the outback town.

Day 4: Alice Springs to Ayers Rock Airport

Wake up early to eat breakfast and head out of Alice Springs. Drive back to Ayers Rock, where you are dropped off back at the airport or your hotel.
