Description

Embark on a 2-day journey through Mexico City, accompanied by an expert guide. Explore the archaeological site of Teotihuacán, visit Guadalupe Shrine and the Frida Kahlo Museum, and take a boat ride on a trajinera on the UNESCO-listed Xochimilco canals.

Day 1: Tlatelolco, Guadalupe Shrine & Teotihuacán Pyramids
Begin at the main square of Tlatelolco and learn about Mexico's 3 main historical periods: pre-Columbian, Spanish Colonial, and modern. Visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, dedicated to Mexico's patron saint.

Explore the Teotihuacán archaeological site, the UNESCO-listed “birthplace of the gods” containing the Pyramid of the Sun, the 3rd-largest pyramid in the world. Climb the pyramid and walk along the 2.5-mile (4-km) Avenue of the Dead, admiring the snake-like carvings on the Temple of the Feathered Serpent.

Day 2: Coyoacán, National University, Frida Kahlo Museum & Xochimilco
On the second day, walk along the cobblestone streets of Coyoacán before visiting Casa Azul, also known as the Frida Kahlo Museum. Become immersed in the work of this prominent Mexican artist before checking out the National University of Mexico, built in 1551, hosting several murals by Diego Rivera.

Continue to the UNESCO-listed Xochimilco, an ecological reserve featuring a series of beautiful canals—the Nahuatl word means “Place of Flowers.” Board a trajinera boat and cruise along the Aztec canal system that once connected pre-Columbian towns and villages.

If you are looking for a COMMERCIAL tour go for it. Unfortunately the main goals of the tour are lost in purchasing, low quality handcrafts, nonsensical activities supposed to be typically Mexican and food in "typical" restaurants (not typical at all). The tour is fully envisioned for commercial purposes which are negotiated between the tour company and the places visited. Total time in the actual archaeological zone of Teotihuacan is no more than one and a half hours (1.5 hours) from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, at the most two hours, We missed one of the main pyramids (the Moon pyramid), as well as the Teotihuacan Museum and one of the most important sites; the Feathered Serpent Temple. The second day is equally COMMERCIALIZED, total time in Frida Khalo's museum 1 hour, awfully organized, the tour guide lost half a group and lost about an hour to gather everybody together. Xochimilco, more purchasing, total distance covered on the boat (Trajinera) 100 metres (yards) in a dirty channel.
