Lemme Take a Selfie: Top Spots to Watch a Golden Sunset in Los Cabos

Los Cabos, more commonly called Cabo San Lucas or just Cabo, is a breathtaking tourism destination on the tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. Although it was little more than a fishing village until the 1970s, the addition of an international airport turned Cabo into a dream spot for travellers from around the globe. Today, Los Cabos is the perfect place to unwind, relax on stunning beaches along the Pacific Ocean, or party until the wee hours of the morning in the city’s iconic nightlife scene. Whatever the goal of your trip, you won’t want to miss the stunning view of the sun setting over the horizon. The following are some of the top spots to watch a golden sunset in Los Cabos, Mexico.

Divorce Beach—Yes, Divorce Beach

Believe it or not, the oddly named Divorce Beach is actually one of the more romantic places to watch the sunset in Los Cabos. Located just next to Lover’s Beach, Divorce Beach is beautiful, but not a great choice for swimming. Strong currents and a serious undertow put even the strongest swimmers at risk, but the solitude makes it the ideal place to stroll with a lover for a sunset walk. Saunter along the bright white sand and watch the blazing sun sink below the deep blue water; divorce will be the last thing on your mind. Make a trip to Divorce Beach even more memorable by bringing along a picnic basket of food or even a chilled bottle of champagne to sip on as you enjoy the view.

Sunset Cruisin’

Technically, a sunset cruise isn’t a specific spot in Los Cabos, but it does give you a spectacular view of the coast lit up by the changing colours of the sky at twilight. A cruise is also one of the best ways to see the peninsula in all of its glory. Many of these cruises are known for their bars as well as their views. Take your pick of cruises offering a myriad of cocktails, so you can enjoy a tequila sunrise while watching a Los Cabos sunset.

Sunset Da Mona Lisa Restaurant—Pun Intended

When you’re looking for a meal with a view, the aptly named Sunset Da Mona Lisa is the place to be at sunset. The restaurant is actually carved into the cliff overlooking the Bay of San Lucas. You’ll be able to see the sand below, the cliffs to one side, the famous arch along the coast, and the sun reflecting on the blue water. Although the iconic restaurant is located in Mexico, the cuisine is all Italian. Diners can enjoy fresh seafood, homemade pasta, and some of the best Italian wines in Central America, all while soaking up the best view in Cabo. If possible, take the sunset time into consideration when making dinner reservations. Ideally, you would arrive 30 minutes before sunset and stay long enough for the stars to start twinkling in the night sky.

Beer with a View: Medano Beach

If you want to watch the sunset in Los Cabos with a cold beer in hand, skip the secluded stretches of sand and head to Medano Beach. The busiest and biggest of the beaches in Cabo, Medano is lined with restaurants, bars, lounges, shops, and hotels. You can always escape the bustle for a minute or two–admire the sunset from a table right on the beach or grab a chilled can of beer from a vendor and head out for a walk along the sand to enjoy a moment of tranquility. As a bonus, you’ll be just steps from a great bar or nightclub as soon as the night officially begins.

Each of these spots in Los Cabos is an incredible place to watch the sunset. Whether you are in the mood for romance, relaxation, or a wild night on the town, one of these top destinations will be the answer.
