Checking in took forever because there was only one person working and nobody else arrived to help, so we ended up leaving our bags with an employee so we could get to a show. Came back around 11pm for check-in and was helped much faster. The clerk nicely upgraded us from a room with one bed to one with two beds, which was really nice. There's no microwave or mini fridge in the room, and only a tiny trash can. Our bedroom door didn't lock every time so we constantly had to make sure it was locking properly. Staff was very friendly and helpful (minus the initial check-in), the gym was really nice, everything was very clean, and the hotel is located right in the middle of several Broadway theaters, which was super efficient for us. Would definitely stay here again!

Only thing I didn’t like about the hotel was at three of the six elevators were down and also they didn’t come and get my room service when I finished it I had to like take it out of the room myself, but that’s not that big of a deal other than that, it was perfect day. Got me way better room than they originally were at the front desk. They were just like let me see if we can get some better and got me all the way to the 44th floor. I loved it. The view was amazing. Bathroom was a little small but that’s OK. Bed was so ridiculously comfy. We were there at the same time as an Indian wedding, and even with that going on, still seemed like everything was taken care of in appropriate time manner. Breakfast upstairs had probably the best view in the entire city of Central Park. Literally breathtaking stunning views only problem is that it’s not open at night. It’s only open till 1130 and it is $75 per person for eggs and sausage that were OK but not $75 worth but I think you’re paying for the view which the view is worth that money

It’s not the first time we are staying here but we love it every time! The king had suit was very convenient.

Unfortunately, during my stay they were upgrading the elevator system and it was a harrowing experience. You either had long wait times for an elevator or the frustrating message that there was no elevator service available. Hope they fix this soon!!

My stay at Sofitel New York was excellent overall. The hotel was very clean, well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Guest services, in particular, were efficient, responsive, and made everything feel seamless from check-in through most of the trip. Unfortunately, my experience took a disappointing turn on the day of checkout. The hotel attempted to authorize and charge my credit card $500, claiming that my bachelorette party was playing loud music until 4 AM, disturbing other guests, and that security had come to our room after a warning call from the front desk. This was completely inaccurate. My group and I were not even in the room from approximately 12:30 AM to 4:00 AM. When we returned, we were winding down for bed—there was no music playing, and we were simply talking at a normal level. We never received any call to the room, nor did security come to our door at any point. It was extremely disheartening to have such a reputable hotel attempt to charge a significant fee based on claims that did not occur—especially without contacting us first to discuss any alleged issue. Experiences like this raise serious concerns, particularly as I’ve since seen similar reports online involving hotels in New York City. While the property and most of the staff were wonderful, this situation left a lasting negative impression and should be addressed with greater transparency and fairness.
