If you hired a local guide, begin your visit with them at the amazing rock city of Petra. This fascinating ancient Nabatean capital once controlled the Arabian trade routes and is a must-see in the Middle East. Pass through the Siq, a narrow canyon that offers your first close-up views of the colourful sandstone, and emerge at the beautiful Treasury. Continue along the Street of Facades to see the Royal Tombs, the Theatre, and Qasr Al Bint. Enjoy some free time to explore on your own, then return to the entrance gate the same way. Most visitors spend around 5 hours in Petra, but you can make your visit shorter or longer. Restaurants are available inside Petra Archaeological Park and around its main gate. After 2 hours, your guide will escort you to the meeting point for the journey back to Amman. Alternatively, you can explore the site longer before returning with your driver.
