Our Horse Riding Experiences

For the safety of our guests and horses, we only offer outdoor trail rides for experienced riders on get your guide.

Outdoor Trail Ride (1h30 - 2h30) – Experienced Riders Only, Age 15+

Our horses are kind, very well-trained and experienced outdoor riding horses. However, they are not riding-school horses trained to automatically follow the group or carry inexperienced riders. Outdoor riding requires independent riding skills and confidence.

You must be able to:

Ride independently in walk, trot and canter.

Control your horse's speed and direction, including slowing down and stopping.

Maintain a balanced seat, correct rein contact and soft, independent hands.

Stay calm and respond correctly if your horse speeds up or does not immediately respond to your aids.

Ride confidently on varied outdoor terrain without relying on another horse to lead yours.

What experience is not sufficient?

Previous lessons alone, occasional riding or experience mainly on riding-school horses that automatically follow the group may not be sufficient. Holiday riding alone does not automatically qualify you. We require substantial, recent and regular riding experience. Your current ability matters more than how many years ago you took lessons.

Unsure if your experience is sufficient?

If there is doubt about your ability, we may conduct a short assessment in the arena before departure. If your skills are insufficient for a safe outdoor ride, we reserve the right to refuse participation.

By booking, you confirm that you have read the riding requirements and honestly assessed your current ability. If you cannot participate because you do not meet these requirements, our applicable refund policy and 's terms and conditions apply.

Group Sizes – Temporary Limitation Until Spring 2027

Due to a horse's injury and because our replacement horse is not yet ready for group trail rides, we currently accept a maximum of:

1 experienced rider for the outdoor trail ride.

An Alternative for Less Experienced Adults or families:

If you have little or no riding experience, we recommend our quad bike tours to explore the beautiful countryside of Central Portugal. No previous riding experience is required. Quad tours are also available through GetYourGuide.
