Embark on an unforgettable journey by venturing 30 kilometres outside the city to begin a day of discovery. The first stop is a date with history at the iconic Chataquila Church, a silent witness to the tumultuous battles once fought over the fate of indigenous leader Tomás Katari. Just 50 metres from the church, a 2-hour hike begins that will lead you along the elevated path of a pre-Hispanic trail. As you ascend, you will enjoy breathtaking views that will reveal the stunning landscape in all its splendour. Immerse yourself in the world of medicinal plants, encountering species such as muña and wira wira, and unraveling their ancient secrets. This panoramic hike culminates in the charming village of Chaunaca, a testament to the enduring spirit of the land. After this invigorating hike, comfortable transport will take you to one of the highlights of the trip: the enigmatic Maragua Crater. Here, the palette of nature intermingles with the vibrancy of Jalq'a village agriculture, painting a truly magical scene. Delve into the heart of local life by visiting artisans' homes, where traditional textile crafts come to life before your eyes. Don't miss the Mirador de Santa Ana, the poignant Cemetery and the impressive Garganta del Diablo, each of which weaves stories of the community's deep-rooted beliefs. Savour a delicious box lunch against this picturesque backdrop before embarking on a 25-minute walk from the crater to the next stage of the adventure. Step onto the trail that leads to the mystical community of Niñu Mayu, a kingdom where the footprints of prehistoric giants - the dinosaurs of the Cretaceous - have been imprinted for eternity. Spend approximately 2 hours exploring these incredible fossilised footprints, a journey back in time. As the sun begins to set, you will return to the city, your heart and mind filled with the stories of the land, the echoes of legends and the resonant footsteps of bygone eras.
